Avoid. Shocking behaviour!
We came for Sunday lunch. What a terrible experience. We definitely made the wrong restaurant choice. Our reservation for two guests was not properly handled. When we arrived, the table was set for 5 people. The hostess explanation was she is not the one who took our reservation. They removed all setup and chairs. No problem!
Unfortunately, under my napkin, my diner plate was dirty with some kind of red and yellow spots, the waiter kindly replaced it. All tables should be properly checked before the customer arrive. No problem!
We ordered a bottle of French wine before our meal. 15 minutes later, still no wine. The waiter told us that the bartender is very busy making drinks, and we must wait. At that time, we spotted only three tables in the entire restaurant. No problem!
So we decided to go and check the buffet selection until the wine arrives. This is where it turned from bad to worst, and unacceptable. On the small buffet was an ice container where the Seafood was displayed (shrimps and raw oysters), and to my stupefaction was a bowl with slices of meat. I was not expecting to find meat with raw seafood, definitely not in its right place. The Shells of the raw oysters were touching the meat. As a regulation in the food industry, It is a must, to store raw and ready-to-eat food in separate fridges, freezers and display units. This helps to prevent harmful bacteria spreading from raw food to ready-to-eat food. All chefs working in kitchens should know about food safety and provide a safe place to eat for their customers. Immediately, I brought it to the attention of the chef, a foreign gentleman with a beard. If you are familiar with the famous say “ Do not trust a skinny chef” this doesn’t apply to him, if you know what I mean. Anyway, let’s get back to this very serious issue. Instead of being grateful and appreciative of my concerns, he went on the defensive. Totally unreal! Here is the recollection of our short exchange. Me: Chef, you have a bowl of meat in the same container of the raw Seafood Chef: Why? Do you have some kind of allergy? Me: Chef, this is beside the point. Allergy or not, this is an unsafe practice. Chef: You are teaching me a lesson? Me: I am just telling you this is not right, and you must correct it. Chef: Don’t raise your voice! You can leave now! Of course, we had not intention of staying anyway, so we took his recommendation and we left. This person is so uneducated about food safety. This blow my mind that he oversees a kitchen operation, and the safety of the restaurant customers is not his main priority. Obviously his ego took a serious blow. This situation could have been easily avoided with a little bit of appreciation and understanding. Big problem!

I recently decided to test the waters, breaking my usual reluctance to order delivery from a top-tier restaurant. Typically, I assume dishes might lose their touch in transit—especially when it comes to something as delicate as a perfectly cooked steak. But Blossom Steakhouse exceeded every expectation!
The steak arrived in immaculate condition, cooked exactly to my liking, with the fries still delightfully crispy and the pumpkin tender, flavorful, and comforting. And the best part? Everything was piping hot, as if I’d just been served at their table! Not only was it a fantastic meal, but the prices were also pleasantly reasonable. Now, I know where I'll be ordering from whenever I want an exceptional meal without leaving home.

Read moreHaving read lots of positive reviews we decided to give Blossom a go and we weren't disappointed. Although it is on the beachfront side of the Icon Bali shopping centre, it certainly doesn't feel like a mall restaurant. It's very smart and comfortable; we ate inside.
For those who are UK based, I would say that it definitely offers a similar quality of experience to Hawksmoor. Whilst they don't have large cuts of meat to choose from, they do have an impressive range of cuts and types of beef from Indonesia, Australia, the USA and Japan. I opted for an Indonesian Wagyu off-the-bone ribeye (as I can't imagine coming across one of those in London) and my husband instead chose an Australian Angus ribeye. Both were cooked exactly as we'd asked and were very tender and super tasty. Of course we ordered far too many sides, but they all tasted great too! It is expensive compared to what else is on offer in Sanur, but certainly good value compared to similar quality in Europe.
