I booked this hotel because I had wandered past it in October 2022 right after Covid restrictions had eased. It was right on the beach & also fronted the main street. Other reviews had stated that this was an 'old style' Bali Hotel & I thought that it was worth a shot. Apparently this was one of the first hotels in the area. Most reviewers will remark on the gardens,(beautiful as you might expect,) others will talk about the location, (also good,) & others might tell you about the friendly staff,( also typical of all Bali hotels.) I tend to agree with all of these positive aspects but there is a downside. Whilst many remark on the 'charming decor' they tend to gloss over the failings of this probably once great establishment. I have been a frequent visitor to Bali over many years & I can tell you that this hotel is 'tired!' The rooms are badly in need of maintenance & the air conditioners cannot seem to cope with the climate. The 2 swimming pools need some scrubbing to remove the green algae around the edge & because they have the sun beating down on them, they are as warm as bathwater. The staff are doing their best to help keep this sinking ship afloat. The hotel is sandwitched between the Tanjung Sari & the Respati Hotel which is fortunate because guests of this hotel can avail themselves of their food offerings as the Warung Gazebo Beach (where breakfast is served,) has a very limited selection. I did notice one site saying that there was an 'on site restaurant' called Coco's but I walked by it today & it is closed permanently. It may sound like I am denigrating this hotel (which I am not,) but I am trying to give an honest, well balanced opinion based on my own quite considerable experience of holidaying in Bali. This may have been a top shelf hotel once upon a time, but it is long past its prime & it shows. Regulars to this hotel,( it seems very popular with aged Australians) may disagree with me & that is their right but, in my opinion I think prospective customers need relevant information, not some glossy sales pitch from enthusiastic first time tourists. My initial 'Saver' room was very basic without even a kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee. The shower was over a wading pool type of affair which was impossible for people with ambulatory issues to step into. I requested an upgrade advising the staff that I would happily pay for the difference. I was shown 2 other rooms before settling for the room I am in, as I write this tome. My partner requested that the air conditioner be checked today & the maintenance men came immediately & regassed the unit. At this stage there appears to be no appreciable improvement. It may also be helpful to know that the water pressure in the 4 rooms that I have been offered is abominable. Still, it is Bali after all, bless them. There is another dilapidated property next door which, I am told, is owned by the owner of this one. The scuttlebut is that he has no plans for refurbishing that property . I post a photo of it because it does lower the tone of the neighbourhood.

Great hotel. Big rooms(saver room) with a nice breakfast area with lush garden view! Room good equipped with fridge+freezer and water boiler. Good matrass and airco, everything is super clean and 2 big pools+own piece of the beach with restaurant and sunloungers. Price of food/drinks is okay and staff is friendly. Only downside sometimes there is noise (party music) from hotel next door but then you can go to the other pool if you want, where it is still quiet and in the rooms you don't hear it :) Hotel and saver room is good wheelchair accessible and they always ask if you need anything or want some help so I would highly recommend this place to wheelchair users like me. Easy to get a taxi at the entrance and in most of them there's no problem fitting your (foldable) chair in, most of the restaurants in the area have a step to get in but not very high and the staff will help you with it. The paveway around the beach is very good wheelchair accessible with lots of restaurants and some shops

We needed a room to use between check out of our hotel to 9pm before our long flight home. We chose this place based on reviews and price. It was the worst decision. DO NOT book the lead room. We couldn’t stay in the room at all as it smelt, the bed was old and bed cover stained, little pressure from the shower, paint peeling off walls scratching in the roof, and a super antique tv. It hasn’t been touched since the hotel was built by the looks of things. This is the first time reviews have let us down. While the price was low I have stayed at hotels with the same pricing but actually liveable (where are clean and well maintained). The reception staff were ok when they finally come to look after us and location was good (walkable to all the beachside restaurants and bars given the hotel restaurant is run down and is not really operational) just beware of what room you book and your expectations vs other newer hotels in the region.

We changed rooms five times in five days as none of the airconditioners worked properly. Staff are lovely, helpful & understanding, This is an older style Bali Hotel in serious need of maintenance of just about everything I can think of. This is my 19th visit to Bali & the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. The only positive is that the property stretches from Jl. Tamblingin ( main street ) through to the beach. Breakfast is very meagre & poor. No restaurant as such, unable to order drinks around the pool. Both pools have algae all around the inner walls. The pool water is always warm. bed linens old & discoloured, pillows old & lumpy. Bathroom tiles, toilets & showers are grotty, chipped and worn. Beds are hard & old. No wheelchair access. Steps into pool are dangerous & steep. No cleaning of poolside deck chairs is done. Water pressure in bathrooms is very weak. |Poolside shower is a dangerous step down. Many gaps appear under bedroom doors which lets the cool air escape. old bedroom wardrobes, coffee table etc are less than effective & minimal. Very little electric plug fittings for charging electronic equipment & appliances. Every room in this hotel appears out of date & severely lacking in maintenance & updating. Even the reception staff have not got a fan even after asking for one. No welcome drinks or professional attention to detail was available upon arrival. I cannot wait to get the heck out of here. It has been a dismal holiday accommodation in so many ways. I feel extremely sorry for the staff who must work for the Australian owner of this hotel. If she is reading this I have to state that she should be ashamed of herself. I thank the lovely staff in reception, ( Sri, Agus & others ) for...
