Read moreThis is the first time I felt bad service, is it because my friends and I are locals and we are still teenagers that we are treated like that? When we sat down, less than 5 minutes and we were still reading the menu for what we wanted to order, there was a waiter who came and asked 'do you want to order?' and we told him nicely 'not yet sir, we still want to look around first', then he left but not even a few minutes later another waiter came but a different person asked the same thing while my friends and I were still a little confused about what to order and after that we finally ordered something that was familiar to us and could be shared even the one who took our order was very rude even after I said what we all ordered the waiter didn't even repeat the order and didn't ask if there were any allergies at all, he just wrote down the order what I said, and we know that bringing food from outside is not allowed but we were there to celebrate our friend's birthday and yes it's true I brought a cake there but only to be photographed and not eaten, but there's no need to look at us like we did something wrong we didn't even eat the cake there. fortunately the runner was very friendly and smiled a lot and the one who wrapped my food that I wanted to take home was very nice. the food and drinks were delicious but the service was very bad. thank you for the experience that I will never forget I also work in the hospitality sector but that's not how to treat guests even though they are local, it's funny that during corona last year local guests were really asked to help, but now because tourism has increased again local guests are treated like that. thank...
Read moreWe had a nice meal at BYRD House, a stylish restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. The setting is beautiful – calm, well-designed, and perfect for a relaxed evening in Sanur. Prices are reasonable too, especially considering it's a tourist-oriented spot.
I had the vegan pizza from their online vegan menu – absolutely delicious and well-prepared. My wife ordered the pasta with sun-dried tomato pesto. However, it didn’t taste like tomatoes at all – it tasted strongly of seafood. When we mentioned this to the waiter, we were told that their "tomato pesto" actually includes crab. That was quite an unpleasant surprise, especially for someone who doesn’t like seafood.
Although the waiter was understanding, the restaurant didn’t offer any solution at first. We could order something else, but only if we paid extra. That didn’t feel fair – if the menu says tomato pesto, you don’t expect crab.
Eventually, after the dish had gone cold and my wife had eaten some of it out of politeness, the waiter Mudita kindly offered to replace it. But by then, it was too late – she had eaten enough (even if it wasn’t enjoyable). We were offered a complimentary ice cream as a goodwill gesture, which we appreciated.
All in all: beautiful environment, mostly good food – just be careful with your order, because what’s on the menu might not be what ends up on your plate, and the response may not be what...
