Worst dinner experience of my life. If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. We ate here as it was on the beach and looked like it would serve half decent food, before reading all the negative reviews. We ordered a nasi campur, beef rendang and banana fritters.
There were rock solid stones in my food - stones plural. After the first rock solid thing in my food that looked like a piece of seashell, I decided I’d let it go but after I continued eating I bit down on another solid black stone that was undeniably a plain old small rock off the ground. I gagged uncontrollably and had to spit my food out and a waitress came after seeing and we complained. She told us the dish would be complimentary and we would get 15% off the rest of the bill.
However, when we went to pay, they handed us the bill with all three items (including the stone-filled dish) with 15% off the total bill which is even less than the additional taxes they add (10% tax and 7% service fee for terrible service). We told them again there were multiple rocks in the food and that they said earlier it would at least be complimentary. The manager gave us heavy attitude, saying yeah well there’s rocks all over the beach and you already ate it. As if that means we should expect it in restaurant food.
In the end we got the stone-filled dish free but had to pay full price for the rest of the food, which was all also...

Unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. The mocktail I ordered was quite small, and the food didn't meet my expectations. I ordered the Beef Rendang, a dish I've enjoyed elsewhere in Bali for half the price. While I'm not necessarily complaining about the price (Bali is generally quite affordable), it did set my expectations higher, and I was looking forward to a delicious, well-seasoned stew. Instead, I received a plate with two types of "meat." It turned out one of them wasn't meat at all, but rather jackfruit – a fact that wasn't mentioned on the menu. The portion of actual beef was small and tough. The jackfruit was particularly bothersome as I kept trying to identify it, unable to reconcile its texture and flavor with any beef I'd ever tasted. The complex aromas I associate with good Beef Rendang were also noticeably absent. The dish fell far short of the menu description. My girlfriend ordered a vegan curry with tofu (a special request), which she enjoyed much more. Perhaps I simply chose the wrong dish. The waiter's handling of my feedback was less than ideal, leaving us with a very disappointing feeling as we left. It's a shame, as it had the potential to be a...
Read moreRod. Truely Awesome ! Segara The Seaside. We had my Wife's 50th Birthday here. With 18 Guests. I went to see the Manager Budi a couple of days before to organise things as we had previously contacted him to book. Budi was most helpful and gave me the confidence to trust everything will be spot on. He even arranged a Cake (at a very reasonable price) & Fireworks that were unbelievable (also very reasonably priced). The night was just perfect, from the awesome food & service to the setting on the Beach. A huge thank you to Budi, Jack, Chef, Yuni & all the staff for making this night such a memorable occasion that my family & friends will never forget. You guys just Rock. Also to note that all the profits from this restaurant go back into the local community. Do yourself a favour and visit the Segara when in in Sanur, you won't be...
