Bar.B.Q Plaza Central Park — Restaurant in Jakarta

An adequate bbq restaurant This is my second visit to Bar.b.q Plaza, with the first one a few years ago in their now closed puri branch. I have already forgotten the taste and experience back then, but dining here again reminded me of the same thing. Honestly the only thing that make me curious to try this place is the recommendations given from my friends in Thailand.

So first, you would be asked to choose a la carte or all you can eat menu, this time I ordered the a la carte. I ordered the supreme set for two. The meat and dishes that was served is quite different than the pictures. While the amount of the meat and veg are the same, the thickness of the meat itself is lacking. The meat slices that was served was very thin and quite lean.

Honestly, with all four of the meat selections in the supreme set, all of them are not tender, despite being very thin. The taste is acceptable, acceptable meaty taste. But there is nothing more to it, the texture is not pleasant, there isn’t much fat for it to melt in your mouth, the only redeeming thing is the sauce that was given. I maybe spoilt with other yakiniku branches that serves better cut/meat, but at this price point, I had expected something more, since it’s not that cheap.

Meanwhile the other toppings, chicken, squid, and veg, all them are so so. However, I’m not a fan of the small shabu-shabu spot for it, and the fact that it was never hot enough to be boiling without burning and charing the meat.

For the service, it’s quite okay, nothing out of the ordinary. The waiter/waitress was quite attentive and reactive. The teas are bottomless and they are happy to refill it.

On the other hand, the restaurant itself was a bit unkept. While at a glance it’s not dirty, there are a considerable amount of flies hanging around the restaurant. Furthermore, since it’s located next to the alleyway towards the toilet, the restaurant itself is quite open, and hence you don’t really get lots of...

Jaman kuliah dulu, seniorku pernah ngerekomendasiin restoran ini pas masih di Empo. Aku baru kesampaian makan di sini sesudah pindah ke CP.

Lokasi restoran ini ada di lantai LG, nggak jauh dari Hokben. Buat AYCEnya selama 90 menit dan ada beberapa paket. Jujurly, menurutku harganya tergolong pricy dibanding resto AYCE sejenis. Udang bahkan nggak tersedia di paket silver yang harganya 235 ribu ++.

Berhubung bapakku kepengen makan udang, kami akhirnya ambil paket Deluxe yang harganya 299 ribu++. Sesudah tax & service, totalnya jadi sekitar 1,1 jutaan buat bertiga.

Aku mencoba :

Kimchi

Rasa kimchinya beneran enak. Sayurnya segar dan perpaduan rasa asam, gurih dan sedikit pedasnya pas. Rasanya cukup strong dan semakin enak dipadukan dengan selada dan daging panggang.

Milk Pudding

Tekstur puddingnya cukup lembut dan rasanya nggak manis sama sekali. Pudding cocok buat palate cleanser.

Thai Tea Pudding

Tekstur puding ini juga lembut dan ada rasa thai tea. Rasanya sedikit manis, namu nggak meninggalkan after taste yang kurang enak.

Coconut Pudding

Dari semua pudding, aku paling suka ini. Rasanya segar, sedikit manis sekaligus gurih. Sepertinya pudding satu ini dibuat dari air kelapa.

Assorted Ice Cream

Buat ice creamnya aku coba yang vanilla & coconut. Es krimnya segar dan manisnya pas. Buat yang coconut, surprisingly memang rasa coconut beneran.

Assorted Meat

Buat daging, kami coba beberapa jenis daging sapi, udang dan salmon. Kami juga coba beberapa jenis sayur. Untungnya semua daging cukup segar. Marinasi daging nggak terlalu meresap, jadi dimakan dengan saus sangat membantu.

. . Sebenarnya sih untuk pelayanannya ramah dan sangat responsif. Namun entah kenapa banyak miscomm. Misalnya, di awal kami pesan beberapa jenis menu termasuk beef chili oil. Nyatanya nggak keinput. Aku baru sadar pas scan dan akhirya ga jadi nambah karena terlanjur kenyang.

Lalu ada daging yang kami pesan 1, dikasih lebih. Bukan cuma itu, pesanan kami ada yang nggak keluar. Jadi kami nanyain ke staff. Ternyata malah diinput. Pas datang, kami kaget. Aku jelasin kalau kami nggak input sama sekali, untung dibawa balik lagi dan kami nggak kena charge.

Bukan cuma itu, kami pesan Japanese Tofu. Tapi yang dihidangkan malah yong tofu.

Terus yang aneh, aku datang pertengahan Desember di jam makan siang. Bisa-bisanya ice tea tawar yang ada di menu nggak tersedia. Sesudah kami selesai makan pun ice tea masih nggak tersedia.

After taste beneran nggak enak karena makan daging dan malah terpaksa minuman manis (cuma ada soda & lemon tea yang agak kemanisan buatku). Semoga ini bukan trik biar kami cepat kenyang, karena ini bukan restoran AYCE 99 ribu+ dan nggak bisa kumaklumi kalau sampai emang sengaja make trik begini.

Selain itu alat panggangannya terlalu kecil. Kami jadi agak sulit karena naruh beberapa daging aja auto full. Buat kuah shabunya kami pilih yang kaldu dan harus nunggu 30 menitan baru kuahnya jadi lebih gurih. Aku makan pas awal dan rasanya beneran hambar.

Buat side dishnya sebenarnya lumayan banyak. Tapi aku cuma pesen nasi, kimchi dan dessert karena fokus makan daging sepuasnya, terutama salmon. Opsi sausnya tersedia di meja. Pilihannya ada beberapa macam, yang spicy cocok buat seafood dan ada saus wijen.

Namun jujurly, dengan harga yang kami bayar namun ukuran panggangan yang terlalu kecil dan opsi saus serta sayur (bahkan tidak ada tahu putih) yang terbatas, menurutku ini kurang worth...

horrible service. Cashier - 10 February 8:30-10pm. tried indirectly to kick me out so that she can go home early. also horrible service from the woman who served me when i first came in- also indirectly rude. i came in at 8:15ish and put in my order at 8:30. she told me i had to finish ALL my food at 9:30 or she would charge me an extra charge due to food wastage. At 9:30 there were will groups/ a group of people just eating and chilling taking their time, and she didn't say anything to that. but maybe because i was alone, both the cashier and that female server felt more inclined to treat me impolitely. i left at 9:30 because i felt that they were going to try to rush me even more had i stayed longer. before 9:30, but after 9, i told the cashier to take care and hold the food since i was going to the toilet, and she had the audacity to ask me: 'oh you're still going to eat your food? you're still not done with your food?' curtly with a disrespectful tone.. wow. i'm amazed by the service and the extremely ill-mannered...
