I had dinner with my family today, and it was unusually crowded. As a result, the food quality was inconsistent. The fried rice was hard to bite, and the egg tarts were uneven - some were soft, and some were hard. It wasn't worth the price compared to our last visit in Q3 2023.
The problem was that the person who took our order didn't have a smile on his face. As I was about to sit down, I found a pair of eyeglasses, so I asked him whose they were. He didn't reply, smile, or "thank you". He just took them from my hand because they were his glasses. I thought he was a staff member who needed some training, but he was the manager named Frans (I don't know how to pronounce it). We asked him to assist us whenever we needed something and saw him unoccupied. However, he always asked other people to do it for him and didn't help the staff members who were occupied with many tables.
Lulu was different. She assisted us greatly, always smiling even though it was tiring. She was just a staff member, but she exceeded our expectations. She made up our mood after everything went wrong, too bad she didn't serve us from the beginning, it's only when we are closing the bill.
Overall, the food is usually good, but it could be better during busy hours. I advise management to check the quality during peak hours. The service is okay, but the higher-ups always messed with our dining experiences. During our previous visit, the leader blamed his team, and now, the manager has ruined it. Foek Lam needs to check the managerial performance, try to hire some...
Read moreThe food taste ah, same like other Chinese food places lah. But the service here quite sianz for this price level. Especially at the reception and cashier. The ones who took and served my order, no problem. They sound less formal but okay for a regular Chinese food place, can appreciate because they know the common names of the dishes we ordered.
At the reception, we asked got waiting list or not. They said yes, but I was first, and they said, "the table is being cleaned," so we wait lah. I brought elderly parents, but we had to wait standing, no seats offered. Since elderly get tired standing too long, and I saw from the front that the table already set with empty plates and cutlery, but the waiter still walking around placing sauces, adjusting chairs, adjusting paper tablecloths, etc. So I asked, "Looks almost ready, can we sit there first?" but got answered with a rude tone, "Sabar, I'll let you know when it's ready." After a while, the table seemed ready, but they gave it to someone else, and I got placed at another table.
Second disappointment, when I went to the cashier to pay, which is okay because I usually do that to not trouble the waitress. But my queue got cut by another waitress serving a customer who asked for the bill, and the cashier was about to process it. Lucky the customer spoke up and said I should be first in line, otherwise, if I had to protest, sure will...
Read moreVisited Foek Lam at Central Park Mall and had an excellent dining experience. We ordered several dishes to share, and every single one stood out. • Cumi Goreng Mentega: Crispy, savory, and rich with buttery flavor. The squid was perfectly cooked — tender, not rubbery — and the sauce was addictive. • Bakmie Ulang Tahun: A must-try for fried noodle lovers. The longevity noodles were flavorful, nicely seasoned, and had a great texture. Tasted like home-cooked comfort with a festive twist. • Tongkat Emas: Delightfully crispy with a pumpkin filled stick — a fun and tasty surprise in every bite with salted egg covers the stick. • Tahu Hot Plate: Served sizzling hot, the tofu was silky inside with a flavorful, umami-rich sauce. A great complement to the other dishes. • Sapi Kuluyuk: Sweet and sour beef done right! The meat was tender, and the sauce had that perfect balance of tanginess and sweetness.
Service was fast and friendly, and the ambiance was cozy — great for family dinners. Prices are reasonable for the quality and...
