Canton 168 — Restaurant in Jakarta

Came here for a birthday celebration, so we booked a room. The minimum charge is only 3,5jt which is considerably quite affordable since their food is on the higher end price.

There’s only 2 VIP rooms available at the backof the restaurant so if you want to book a room, highly recommend booking it weeks in advance.

The only con is that there’s only 1 washroom outside (unisex washroom). If you gotta pee badly, you better not hold it 😅

The room itself is quite spacious, we were a party of 10, but I believed the staff said they can seat a max of 14-16 people. The room AC is quite chilly but you can ask them to adjust the temperature. The vibe is nice, lighting is on point. Music a bit lout but can ask them to then it down.

The portion is decent for the price, some might say small since Chinese restauran is known to give large portions.

Personally, I find the food to be too salty and too sweet (i.e. the sticky ribs) - BUT I was able to request no salt on my veggie order so that was nice that they were able to accommodate that for me. I personally don’t like my food to be seasoned heavily so that could just be my personal preference.

They forgot a couple utensils and also a couple of our drinks, and some of the food came out a bit late, could be because they were understaffed.

The staff who did wait on us provide great service, very polite and accommodating when we can get them to help us. It’s really difficult to call them since we are in the room and there was no other way to get their attention unless we go out of the room.

Overall a solid 9.28/10 rating! Highly recommend to try as we rarely find good chinese fusion restaurants in Jakarta.

Interesting and well executed fusion chinese food in PIK. Came here when we were quite full from our afternoon coffee so only tried a few dishes. I have to say most of their dishes are well executed, they put their own twist on classic chinese dishes which gives them unique flavours you won't find elsewhere while still maintaining the Chinese flavour profile and doesn’t overly westernise the taste like certain fusion restaurants do. Do also remember to get their specialty tea as they have unique bold refreshing flavours you won’t find elsewhere. (Highly recommend the silvermoon with kyoho grape tea)

The ambiance is a 10/10 : Went here during dinner and the ambiance was wonderful. Dim lights, detailed interior, i especially love the alluring bold red colour of the bar area and the beautiful light fixtures which gives the place lots of character. To top it off the place is set on top of a canal so you’ll be able to enjoy your food by the water (provided you are dining in the VIP rooms).

Service : 9.5/10 Personalised, friendly, relaxed, but still professional type of service is what you’ll find in this restaurant. The waiters have great products knowledge and make good recommendations which showcase the restaurant’s best and sometimes even give you the best value options which I appreciate their honesty with their opinions regarding the items...

One word: Wonderful. If you are looking for Chinese food with great quality ingredients that is family-friendly, pet-friendly (limited to outdoor areas only), and aesthetically pleasing for special occasions, then this is it!

It's not as easy to find a nice VIP room in the PIK area that has a sea view, a cosy setting, and Chinese food! As a Medannese, this type of food suits my family!

We ordered smokey pork ribs, mala chilli chicken, peking duck, peking duck second course with black pepper sauce, beef cheek claypot, birthday noodle, ginger beef, tobiko fried rice, and some dim sum for the kids.

All the food was lovely. No fail, and perfect flavour. But you need to note that if you bring someone older than 65 years old, you could ask them to adjust the flavour so it is not too strong for them. Older people tend to be pickier with salt.
