Worst spent money on food 2022.
Came here with wife and ordered 2 bowls of ramen. Tonkotsu and gekikara, both picruted. As the food delivered, I was flabbergasted as by the looks of it, both of the ramen does not deserve even a speck of recognition. I would understand if this kind of food being served on the street with 20-30 k price tag on it. Boy it was 70k++ for tonkotsu and 83k ++ for gekikara
Let me dissect one by one,
Tonkotsu ramen, Tonkotsu broth = light, no thickness of tonkotsu should have and unpleasantly salty. there are strong hint of the broth using some kind of instant flavoring and the taste is just so artificial. The cloudiness of the broth which should have obtained by the rendered gelatinous part of pork bones being boiled many many hours just felt replaced by some milky substitute. Eggs = oops no eggs Wood ear mushroom = just boiled, no flavor, big chunks. Cmon it’s not capcay Pork slice = one thin piece, flat, no flavor Noodles = this may be only OK thing here, even I still prefer straight noodle over curly noodle for ramen, but their noodles has ok texture and I have no complain about it
Next, gekikara Broth = what the hell. No depth, no body, oily, not pleasant. Straight up spicy even though we chose level one. Damn right they just slice off chilies and just dumped off the broth. No effort. Chicken? = cooked ground chicken, white in color. Why? Because no added flavor it is. Eggs = oh man, look at them. Poorly sliced, plain, not sure they wanted to make half boiled or soft boiled egg and yes, not an ajitama style tamago (of course they don’t serve effortful food here) Noodles = same as above Garnish = the scallion oh man the scallion, you could just cut it thinly to make it more pleasant but this looks like you eat on straight up warmindo place. Oh yes even i enjoyed warmindo more than here.
We also ordered buta bara (grilled pork slices) for 65k++. It is 110gr grilled pork and nothing special. But still edible.
Verdict. The food has no soul The food has minimal effort to make but trying to get maximum profit The place is overrated Do not expect to get decent ramen here Not going to this place anymore ever again.
Closing notes, this in my personal view (and my wife agreed with me) about the food that served here. So if you have been to this place and enjoyed every bits of it then I am very glad of how you felt. If you read this review and about to visit this place and you do not have any other option then I humbly ask to lower your expectation about the quality of the food.
Thank you and hope y’all stay safe...
Read moreCome here with high expectation, but turn out get dissapointed. Me and my sister come here on new years 1 Jan, and its crowded as hell, and we know we didnt made any booking so we understand to wait to get the table. The server not really friendly, they just ask me to wait but never came outside (because we wait outside). While we wait, a bunch of people that was strolling around, they ask me if the store was open, i said yes, but there's waiting list. They enter the store and immediately get a table. And i was like, whatt??? I came up and ask the server, why people that come after us get the table first, and we know absolutely they didnt made any reservation too. She's like annoyed by my question, and ask her friend to escort me. And that's when i realize, they judge us by look and appearance. The earlier group was wearing fancy skirt and modest makeup, while me and my sister just wearing tshirt and jeans. While we enjoy the food (surprisingly good), the staff is noisy and kinda ruin the mood. This is the worst experience i ever had, i will never step back to that place again. Hope this review get you well, and for the management, train your staff well please. I order: Tonkotsu Ramen (9/10) Buta bara (7/10) Tsukune cheese (4/10) Torii...
Read moreThis place is one of the Daisei group's restaurants. It's located inside the Blok M Square complex which is known as Little Tokyo. I've heard that it's a new concept from Kushigin, which used to be my favorite Ramen place, that sadly had been closed. Some of Daitokyo Sakaba's menu are the same as Kushigin's but less choice for the Ramen. The place is bigger than Kushigin but I feel that Kushigin is more homey. Nevertheless Daitokyo Sakaba can be a good place to eat and relax after work. The food is good. I recommend their yakitori especially the asupara bacon. If you love spicy food, I recommend the Gekikara ramen or Gekikara Tonkotsu ramen. I've had it since the Kushigin days. The level of spiciness is from one to five. Be wary that level one already has 5 spice. However you can order it with the spice less than 5 pieces. If you order other Ramen, you can ask for the spice on the side for no additional fee. It can be crowded during week nights so it's better to make a reservation. Smoking inside is allowed so it's not a good place to bring little kids. In my opinion, they need to improve the service. I went here on a Sunday night, which is a slow night at most restaurants, and it's taking a little bit too long for my...
