I recently dined at this ramen restaurant, and I must say, it was a mixed experience.
What I liked:
-The ambiance of the place is quite pleasing. The open kitchen adds a nice touch and allows you to see the chefs in action. -Despite the restaurant being packed, the service was impressively fast, ensuring that you don't have to wait too long for your meal. -Now, onto the star of the show—the ramen! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the chicken had an incredible tenderness that I couldn't get enough of. The seasoning was spot-on, making it a delightful experience.
What I disliked:
-Unfortunately, the karaage didn't live up to my expectations. The texture was a bit off, not as juicy as I would have liked, and the flavor was somewhat bland for my palate. -One minor disappointment was that they only offer one free ocha refill. I've noticed that many other Japanese restaurants in the area provide unlimited ocha refills, so this felt a bit stingy.
Overall, while there were some misses, the delicious ramen and speedy service make this place worth a visit. If they can work on improving the karaage and maybe be a bit more generous with the ocha refills, it could easily become a top-notch...
Read moreI finally found my go-to spot for authentic and incredibly delicious ramen in Jakarta! Echigoya Ramen in Melawai serves what I would call the best "Echiran" style ramen I've had in the city. The broth is rich and flavorful, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the toppings are generous. It's a truly satisfying bowl that warms you up from the inside out.
But it's not just about the ramen here. The side dishes are equally impressive and deserve a special mention. The Chicken Karaage is a must-try – it achieves that perfect balance of being incredibly crispy and golden on the outside while remaining juicy and tender on the inside.
The Gyoza are also fantastic, with a savory filling and a delightfully crispy bottom. Another standout for me was the Chuka Kurage (seasoned jellyfish). It was exceptionally soft and packed with a delicious, savory flavor that was both unique and addictive.
Overall, Echigoya Ramen offers a fantastic and authentic Japanese dining experience. From their stellar ramen to their well-executed side dishes, everything was top-notch. I'll definitely be back for more and would highly recommend it to any ramen...
Read moreAh, one of the best authentic Japanese ramen restaurant in Jakarta. Previously, I have no intention to eat here. I came here with my girlfriend because Kashiwa is full 😅
I took Echigoya a try. The design of the place is similar to Kashiwa, maybe because they were on the same group (they're on the same building though, Echigoya is located below Kashiwa). Put it simply, it's quite cozy.
I tried the Echigoya Ramen and it tastes so good. There were corns, cabbages, mushrooms, carrots, and chicken fillet in it (no, I don't eat pork). This is the kind of ramen that I won't add any additional spices (like most of Indonesians who love spicy food). The broth is quite light, and tastes very delicious. For you who expect a large bowl of ramen, this is the right place. Somehow their portions of food is quite large (and I love it!) For my drink, I chose the simplistic cold ocha because it's the perfect companion for ramen (well, maybe the Japanese will choose beer instead).
All in all, it's a you-must-try place. I just hate the fact that they don't have a special room for smokers (not because I'm a smoker, but I was annoyed by...
