Gandy is a legendary steak house in Indonesia that has established since 1971. Their outlet in Hayam Wuruk has Gandy Bakery on the first floor and the dining area is on the second and third floor. When we came here, the ambiance and vibes will bring you back to 90's fine dining room. It is so classic, even the songs that they played are the classic one, just like Céline Dion's songs during this visit.
They provide variant of starters, soups, salads, beef and chicken steaks, sandwiches, pastas, seafood delights, and some Asian foods.
Before the main dish comes to our table, they will give complementary soft and plain bread along with the butter.
I tried Country Beef Steak (IDR 85,000). This is one of the chef's recommendation menu. A hotplate of Gandy's ground beef steak, mushroom, and fried egg served with the mushroom sauce. It is also served separately with the french fries, sliced carrots, corns, beans, and Gandy's typical of shallot pickles. The ground beef is tender, the vegetable are cooked well. The mushroom sauce taste isn't that strong and savoury. I still remember that several years ago I tried Gandy's outlet in Kuningan. The sauce there has more savoury...
Read moreAs you can see in my photo, Gandy steaks is a good place for your dinner. They atmosphere is pretty comfy with a good music too. I order their signature steak called "Steak ala Gandy" (medium rare) and the meat is soooo good, i can feel their quality. For your information, you can choose what type of potatoes do you want, they provide fried potato, bake potato and mashed potato (i obviosly order bake potato coz the calories is smallest than others, lol), their fried potato is so good too coz the sourness is appropiate and for the mashed potato, i guess they gave some butter in there so the tast is more flavour. Last but not least, i order ther garlic bread too, sorry to say i'm not too like it coz their garlic bread is hard too eat especiallt for the crust. Omg, i almost forgot about ther acar, wait what's acar called in enghish? Ohh it's pickles (shallots and bird's eye chilies with vinegar) hard to explain it but, trust me, the acar is sooo grat, i fall in love with their acar
Read moreHad this back when i was a wee boy, it was definitely better back then. It used to be like a premium steakhouse but now its an overpriced semi-fastfood quality establishment. Any beef they have doesnt taste very good and you have to order 1 level below your preferred way of cooking since they use a hotplate (get rare if you want medium rare). The sauce is watery and taste like cheap gallon sauce, the soup is definitely knorr powder. The chicken they keep running out of thighs and having to resort to breast which is okay but the way they prepared it is kinda dry. Nothing wrong with using certain brand sauce or soup but at the price they are charging there are literally better places to eat at the same or even cheaper price nearby.
But the bread and gandy soup is pretty good, so they have that going for them. And despite my complaints, ill still rather get chicken than beef in this steakhouse. Overall, only came for my childhood, and only certain specific things are good...
