Hongkong Sheng Kee Dessert is a Hongkong restaurant originally from Singapore that has several outlets internationally. One of them is in Indonesia that we could find their several outlets in Jakarta and Tangerang. They provide variant of steamed and fried dimsum, porridge, rice, noodle, along with both of the hot and cold desserts. Their outlet in Mal Kelapa Gading is not that big.
The health protocols that they are practicing are : Distance between each seat; Staffs are wearing mask; Barcode is available on each table, so that we could scan it to see the menu directly from our mobile phone; The eating utensils are put in the hot water before we use it
Here are what I tried :
Yolky Custard Pao (IDR 21,900 / 2 pcs) The yellow pao that is filled with the "bomb" and thick egg yolk. Once you bite it, the egg yolk will go out from the pao! It tastes quite good and not that bold.
Rice Ball in Red Bean Paste (IDR 32,900) This one is the part of the hot dessert. Three white rice balls filled with black sesame paste served in a warm red bean paste along with the red bean as well. A recommended warm and soft dessert.
Mango Pomelo Sago with Vanilla Ice Cream (IDR 43,900) This is a free cold dessert that we got after posting a review on Google Maps because that time there was this kind of promotion. It is a refreshing dessert full of mango with sago and a scoop of...
Read moreService is quick, the waiters are polite and kind. The food here leave something to be desired, for the crisp braised chicken noodle, the noodles are already somewhat cold when it reached my table, only the noodle under the chicken is hot, which I presume is the residual heat from the chicken being reheated because the chicken is a bit dry in some parts. As a sidenote, the soup also comes to the table cold.
For the mango pomelo herbal jelly, the mango is about 8-10 small pieces and I can taste that the mango is unripe, because the color is bright yellow, and harder than ripe mango. But the syrup managed to cover the taste of unripe mango, the pomelo is a few sprinkles of pomelo pulp, and the herbal jelly is ok, I just wish there are more actual ripe mango here, not just some herbal jelly covered with mango syrup.
Overall it's ok,you can eat here to fill your stomach, but not exactly the place that you'll...
Read moreDecided to have HK Sheng Kee for dinner while walking around in Mal Kelapa Gading last week. We tried it once before and found it to be quite ok; not bad but also nothing impressive.
Stood outside to wait for a table and a good 5 mnts went by and still no waitperson came to greet despite the restaurant not being too busy. So we walked in and sat ourselves down, only then did someone gave us the menu. Ordered combination wonton noodle and black bean ribs on rice. Food came out soon and tasted ok, noodles chewy, wonton tasty and black bean ribs was good with generous garlic sauce.
Asked for the bill and again had to wait before it came. Quickly made payment and left without anyone saying thanks or a goodbye smile. Need major improvements in their service, otherwise yummy food alone will not...
