I’ve been coming to Joni’s since they were just a small tent outside of the shophouse they are housed in now. This was my first visit in years, last time I came here was before the pandemic, thought I’d have a taste and see how they have “evolved”. Turns out all is well and as it was. The bon wagyu (meltique steaks) are as uniquely savory and slightly sweet with a strange soft texture that I guess is achieved by using tenderizers. For less than 90 thousand for 200gr I love it. It’s all about setting your expectations, don’t expect Ruth’s Chris steaks at places like these. Expect to get a good meat fix with proper sides and acceptable sauces. My recommendation if you’re here. Get the 200gr ribeye with mushroom sauce. Always ask for the sauce on the side not poured all over your steak. That way you get to taste the meat which is very unique as I mentioned. It’s not a typical ribeye though with marbling throughout and a fat center. This one is just a thinner cut and cooked throughout. Don’t expect to be able to get proper doneness level. That only works with proper meats with thick cuts. I tried the wagyu secondary cut. It’s meltique as I mentioned. It is a thin cut meltique, in other places it might be called a ribeye. It’s a decent meltique, i think they are using better quality meltique steaks thank most other budget steak houses. It’s savory and has that Joni flavor that makes it pretty enjoyable. If you had a ribeye and looking for something else to eat to fill you up, you might want to consider the wagyu. Consider it your meat dessert. For sides I would recommend the mash instead of the fries, which are usually cold and bland. The mash isn’t anything to write home about though, it us also dry and crumbly but dip it in your mushroom sauce and it becomes a decent side dish. Looking for extra carbs? Get the garlic bread. It’s simple but enjoyable enough as you wait for your steak to be served. Parking can be tricky but don’t be shy to ask the parking...

When my friend asked me to eat here I thought it was gonna be just another steak joint. We sat down and oredered the Tenderloin Australian Import with potato wedges. I opted for the black pepper sauce while my friend chose the mushroom sauce.
Then, as we were still ordering, my friend asked me if I wanted to add rice. I was both shocked and confused 😅
"Steak with rice?!?"
That's just weird. Unheard of-- at least for me. Naturally, I said yes!
My friend is a 100% Indonesian food lover, so eating steak with rice-- which is SO INDONESIAN 😅 is not a strange concept.
I was pleasantly surprised that steak and rice go together well. Well, I shouldn't be, we Indonesians basically eat everything with rice, rendang, gepuk, empal, with potatoes AND rice.
The steak itself was juicy and tender and flavored nicely, the blackpepper sauce however, it needs more kick. The potatoes and veggies were good.
We ordered their home-made Ice Cream for dessert. I chose the Choco Passion. It was delicious! __ It was a good experience and I would come back again. Steak and...

We had dinner here a week ago. We ordered the grilled salmon with mashed potato and the cordon bleu with potato wedges and pepper sauce.
When they brought the food, we received both plates with potato wedges. After talking with the staff they informed us, that the mashed potatos were out. Not a big deal in general unfortunately though, the potato wedges weren't fresh at all. They were cold, and not crispy kinda like they have been laying around in the kitchen for an hour or so.
The cordon bleu was really delicious, especially with the pepper sauce, good addition to the meal. The vegetables seemed to be a classic frozen mix and didn't see a lot of herbs and seasoning at all. Overall 4/5
The grilled salmon was decent, chilisauce not our preference, the coleslaw style salad was a nice contrast would have loved to try the mashed potato, the potatowedges weren't it. Overall 3/5
We had a sprite and a hot tea with that.
The interior design was simple but fit the place well, staff was kind and some spoke a little english. You pay at the end...
