I am typing this review as I am waiting for my order. When I arrived at the cafe, there was no one behind the front counter. There were 6 staff behind the back counter, and they all saw that I was waiting for someone to take my order, BUT NOPE, they just couldn't be bothered to even give a signal as to where I should go as the front counter was not manned at all. It was not even close to closing time. So, when I walked in, the lady behind the cashier was like dying to quit her job. No manner, no sign of being paid enough... 2 guys were acting as if they were busy scrubbing on glass display counter (the job that could literally be done by 1 person). I was ordering Americano, the lady did not even ask if I wanted my Americano hot or cold. She just rudely said, "ONLY CASHLESS". Okay, fine... I paid my order, and then went to look for a place to sit. There were 2 tables that were not cleaned, full of cups, plates... they could have been cleaned right away... esp. during this pandemic time where tables and chairs have to be thoroughly cleaned after being left by customers. Great... as I am receiving my order now... the Americano came out cold with ice. I think we could all get much better service at much cheaper coffee place, where the employees are probably managed and trained better than those at this place. What's the purpose of using the word "heritage"? What kind of heritage is this place trying to display? The worst coffee place I've ever been to. Do not waste your money...
Read moreGreat ambience unlike the usual Kopi Kenangan. Definitely more premium, with indoor and outdoor area. The serving area is divided into 2 parts: The Purist at the front which serves conventional coffee and they show the barista manually brewing the coffee. The other are The Van der Man, a lovely fresh blend of various tea served in a Martini glass. The Nitro Coffee which tasted too sour to my palate. The Malabar coffee - which was one the Purist’s menu. This one fitted to my taste bud. Es Kopi Gula Malaka served in double walled glass which tasted too sweet for me.
We also tried their pattiserie: Bread Mayo - soft square bun filled with egg mayo and topped by 1/2 boiled egg. This one was delish and recommended. Almond Nutella Bread - same bun filled with well Nutella and sprinkled with almond slices. Tasted okay but not extraordinary.
Pretty upset the second time visiting this place because the line was long and they did not take any initiative to open the second cashier. And people were like discussing what to order bla bla while I was only going to buy one additional bread (was waiting probably like 15 minutes!). This kind of thing is a turn off and should be...
Read moreYes good coffee. But god damn the waiting time is insanely long. I see 5 staff behind the counter, but only 1 manning the cashier. The line was long, they should have the SOP or initiative to open up another lane.
Layout is confusing. Eeeevwryone who is drawn to the manual brewing station will automatically walked up and order, but we were told to go to the pastry line. I mean, why have a cashier and EDCs if you arent accepting orders?
Next, manual brew took at least 10 mins. And they got it wrong! Hot, not ice.
Finally, outdoor table barely attended. Any empy table I see is dirty with cigarrette ash.
This would be an aawesome place if thw service...
