I hardly give bad reviews, but this one is quite disappointing, because Paul is usually my go-to places.
I came to the store yesterday and ordered 2 mini gourmandises + 1 tartelette. A woman helped me with the order but then asked her friend to help her out, and then I was charged 157k. I didn’t really think it through because I brought two big heavy bags in two hands so all I wanted was to quickly leave with my order (I acknowledged that I took part of the mishap as well), and I just realized at home that they gave me a wrong order (which are ‘accidentally’ more expensive). I wouldn’t have been this disappointed if only I didn’t say my order twice (in fact, the woman was the one who suggested the item for me as the mini croissants- the ones I initially wanted to buy - were not available).
Loving this place so much, I came back again this morning and decided to just let it go. My husband and I planned to have a nice breakfast, just like we usually do at other Paul Stores.
I ordered a crepe with caramel and apple, along with a cup of coffee. The coffee was fine, but my crepe didn’t arrive, even long after my husband finished his mini gourmandises (that he didn’t get yesterday because of the blunder). So I asked the staff about it, and he went to the kitchen to check. After a while, he came back out and told us that “Mohon maaf, ada kendala, katanya dari tadi adonannya nggak jadi-jadi” (there’s a problem with the dough that they can’t make the crepe).
Isn’t that fun? (yes I’m being sarcastic, but we did laughed about it. For a store like Paul, you won’t expect that the chef can’t make a crepe, will you?)
I haven’t had to experience this kind of issues at any other Paul stores, and perhaps at many other places - who are in smaller scales and not of a big name as Paul, so this one is quite surprising, not in a good way.
One more thing, there’s only a few of the staff who are friendly. The guy that’s in charge in the pastry case on the weekend, especially, is hardly helpful at all.
This review aims nothing but for them improve, at least to the level of their fellow stores. I sincerely...
Read moreFood: I ordered an apple soft crepe with cream (I forgot the actual dish name), I quite like its taste. It was made to order, and not pre-heated; +1 for this. I had ice cappuccino to accompany it, it tasted standard. I also had a bite of the freshly made plain croissant, it was a delish.
Ambiance: Very cozy and strategically located. Lots of windows with a view outside. No scenery because it was facing streets in front of the mall, but it’s better rather than facing a wall or no windows at all.
Service: Waiters/waitresses were responsive if we called at them directly instead of using the electronic bell that was prepared for each table (it kinda renders these devices useless and misleading if you ask me). My mother also asked if we could switch tables from smoking to non-smoking, and they readily helped us for it. I appreciate that.
Price: Not going to comment much on this. I’m used to eat Pacific Place’s Paul and this is their usual price....
Read moreBAD & SUPER SLOW SERVICE.
We came at 8 pm. Lots of empty seats. Chose our table & asked for wine list. Waitress asked to wait. 10 minutes passed & no one returned. Yet we keep seeing the same waitress serving others.
We asked for the wine list to another waiter & were asked to wait for him to get it.
Waited 10 more minutes, almost took off, THEN the waiter came with wine list. Ordered, wine came , and guess what….
we had to wait for another 10 minutes for the waiter to open our bottle & get our glasses.
Not sure what’s wrong with these people. The restaurant wasn’t too crowded & I saw enough waiters & waitresses working. Just not sure what they’re doing. One of the waitress was even busy charging & checking her phone !!!
How very unprofessional & such a dissapointing service for an international standard cafe like PAUL.
No point hiring a lot of waiters & waitresses if they don’t work...
