I should be worried when Paul had only opened at MKG for 2 weeks and already there wasn't any line for Sunday lunch. We still decided to give it a try and boy were we disappointed.
First the good: decor and placemat. Plenty of attractive pastries and sandwiches on display so very enticing from the front. The bad: -service was slow and terrible, no waitperson had their eyes up and we had to find our own table, took menus ourselves and then tried to get someone's attention for 10 mnts to place order. And even then no smiles nor apologies. -drinks came pretty quick but our large cappuccino was not hot and no coffee art?! It looked like someone pressed a button on a machine and served it 🤔 -food took forever and didn't come out together. The salami gnochi came first and it was ridiculously sweet and we had to add lots of chili powder to taste. -my seafood tartelette pasta took almost 30 mnts and it was (no joke) the worst pasta I've had in a very long time. It tasted pasta water and nothing else 😒 the prawns and bits of snapper pieces that came with it were tasty but already thrown off by the terrible pasta and lack of taste.
Paid the bill, walked out and have no intentions of coming back ever. Which is sad since the one in Plaza Indonesia is one of my favourite meeting spots. Hope this new outlet will fix...
Read moreI visited Cafe Paul for the first time today with my friend. Didn't realize that place could be this spacious inside. Ambience was quite welcoming, we ordered for a cup of coffee and strawberry millefeuille and waited for a while! The coffee arrived first but dessert wasn't around. However after waiting for quite some time, we were told that strawberry millefeuille has been finished although the order had been taken earlier.
We thought of ordering something else but to our surprise we were served strawberry tart that too complimentary! The tart was yum and it definitely satisfied our sweet tooth, a big thanks to Griyan N.P (We intentionally asked the name of the guy when he handed over the coffee bill) This gesture was really sweet and kindness matters a lot! (We would have happily paid for strawberry tart or would have ordered something else but his kind gesture truly touched our hearts) All the very best for your...
Read morePAUL is a restaurant, café, and bakery originally from France. The place is pretty, modern, and comfortable as well. It consists of indoor and outdoor areas. This time, I only came to have a croissant and coffee. For the bakery and café, PAUL serves various croissants, pastries, cakes, macarons, as well as coffee. The variety in the bakery may not be that much, but still... French bakery always makes me confused about which one to choose 🤭
Let's see what I tried :
Croissant Almond (IDR 55,000) One of the recommended croissant from PAUL. This flaky butter croissant is filled with almond cream and topped with almond slices. We could request the staff to warm this croissant. It's recommended!
Latte (IDR 52,000) This iced latte definitely has more milk than coffee in its composition. It's refreshing, and the sugar is served separately, so feel free to add it...
