Pho Ba Ba — Restaurant in Jakarta

In Kelapa Gading, this is basically the best Vietnamese place you can go to for good food, nice casual traditional cafe-like ambience, and good service at reasonable prices.

Is this the best Vietnamese food in Jakarta? Prob not, but if you have a hankering for good pho or good banh mi in Kelapa Gading, you can never go wrong with Pho Ba Ba.

Now to more in depth review: Pho is good, 'nuf said. Good broth, quality beef, good meatballs, good noodles, ayce greens (although the varieties differ on different days) - basically if you want healthy, hot, and fulfilling dish - this is your main stuff. Recommended is the signature with beef obviously as well as meatballs - have I mentioned they make mean meatlballs here?

The meatballs by themselves are almost a 4 star dish, and a popular extra addition to your pho.

Banh mi is also good, although I've only tried their beef variants, not the chicken ones. Crispy on the outer parts, soft on the inside of the buns, good mix of ingredients inside, oily and yet fresh at the same time (typical banh mi). Good for takeaways, breakfast, or sharing as usual.

The fried and grilled stuff varies and is subject to personal preferences. I find the fried egg rolls pretty good but not the skewers.

I've yet to try the non fried egg rolls (fresh rolls they call it), but perhaps it will be more to my liking.

That said, this isn't the place for good drip coffee - find a specialty place for that.

pho tai was delicious, they improved the beef soup since the last time i came here, it more authentic then before. feels like home cooking.

bean sprouts, lime and basil are free flow. there is a counter to self picking. same counter as free flow drink.

cakwe was fresh and delicious. other fried dishes also delious. but the fresh roll is sad. it skin and beehoon was soggy, vegetables not fresh. it would be better if it made by order not displayed for long in room temperature.
