I recently visited Popolamama at Taman Anggrek Mall and had a delightful experience. Specializing in Italian pasta and pizza, this restaurant offers a cozy ambiance, perfect for a relaxed dining experience. I decided to try the meatball pasta, and it did not disappoint. Ambience inside is pretty dim, yet cozy and homey, with beautifully designed wall. Quite spacious inside, mostly medium-sized tables. Barely occupied on weekdays – great if you wish to avoid crowd and have a low-key meal.

I ordered Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Japanese mushroom and smoked beef (69k). It was very nice for this price range. The pasta here is made of a special wheat, that contains greater protein, and so you should feel fuller eating it. I find the texture of the pasta to be uniquely delicate and chewy, with a mild aglio olio flavor (a great plus for me). We came for a late lunch craving something fresh and comforting — and Popolamama delivered just that. We ordered the salmon pasta, chicken with Japanese mushroom pasta, and a chicken pizza.

The pizza was baked in a brick oven — crispy on the outside, soft inside, with a creamy white sauce that felt light but flavorful. You can even watch the chefs prepare your pizza and pasta right in front of you, which adds a nice touch to the experience.
