I recently dined at Remboelan and had the chance to try a variety of their dishes. The overall experience was enjoyable, with rich flavors and a warm, authentic Indonesian ambiance.
I particularly liked the Iga Bakar Kemiri Remboelan and the Sate Sapi Ungaran – both were tender, well-marinated, and full of bold flavors. The Nasi Bakar Roa and Oseng-Oseng Sapi Telaga Sarang were also savory and satisfying.
However, a few dishes could be improved. The Tahu Krispi Lada Garam Nusa Penida, while crispy, was overwhelmingly spicy and oily. Similarly, the Nasi Goreng Kecombrang Muntilan had a mild flavor profile – I was expecting a stronger kecombrang (torch ginger) aroma.
On the drink and dessert side, the Bir Pletok was a nice touch of tradition, and the Es Teler Abang was refreshing and not overly sweet.
One thing to note is that most of the dishes lean heavily toward the spicy side, which might not suit everyone’s palate. A bit more balance in heat levels would make the overall experience more accessible.
Would I come back? Yes – especially to explore more of their regional specialties. Just a heads-up for those with low spice...

We visited Remboelan at MOI during a slow hour (2:30 PM), and the restaurant still had plenty of open seats.
Right at the entrance, I stood in front of the manager and another staff member who was on a phone call. Both completely ignored me until I had to wave my hand just to get their attention. That alone was already a bad start.
After registering our name and phone number for a table for 3, a staff member guided us inside and tried to seat us at a table further in. We preferred a table closer to the entrance, where multiple identical tables were available. However, the staff insisted we couldn’t sit there because it was “for 6 people”—even though we could clearly see other groups of 2 and 3 occupying the exact same type of table!
This felt completely discriminatory. We have never had any issues with seating at other Remboelan branches, but the unwelcoming attitude and this absurd, selectively enforced seating rule were beyond frustrating. Absolutely...

Akhirnya dateng ke meja kami dan kami minta pindah meja yg sofa jd biar dibersihkan (kami dapet meja yg sempit sebelumnya dan waktu nyampe sudah dikasih tau kalau cust yg di sofa udah pergi bisa panggil buat pindah kalau mau pindah). Harusnya lgsg ke meja sofa itu buat bersihin tapi cust sebelah manggil entah mungkin bahas bill jadi yg harusnya dia bersihin duluan itu meja yg mau kami tempati malah urus bill cust lain itu dulu dan kami jadi nunggu makin lama. Nggak sampai disitu aja, habis kami pindah tempat dan sekalian mau order malah disuruh order pake qr. Saya mulai kesal karena order qr otomatis harus scroll menu lagi lama lagi, tapi yaudahlah saya okein dan nyuruh dia pergi. Disitu mungkin dia mulai sadar kalau saya kesal dan nawarin order manual tapi sambil bilang “maaf saya cm sendiri”. Saya tolak, saya order qr aja udah silakan pergi (kalau anda sibuk). Saat saya hampir selesai order di qr yg entah habis berapa menit sendiri itu eh disamperin sama beda orang, sambil say sorry nawarin mau order manual. Saya bilang sdh pake qr aja tlg pergi. Selesai order qr, disamperin lagi ngecek orderan saya sambil say sorry lagi.
Tingkatkan lagi prioritas utamanya gimana, yg effort manggil siapa eh yg dilayani...
