I’ve been to Scarlett three times now, and here’s my proper take.
First visit was at their PIK store back in 2022, chasing their viral poured tiramisu. Waited 2-3 hours, came all the way from Jakarta Selatan, and honestly… kinda traumatized. The place was tiny, packed, and the tiramisu didn’t really work for me. The texture was very soft and creamy, but what threw me off was how bold the coffee flavor was. I don’t drink coffee, so that might be why it wasn’t enjoyable for me — it’s just a personal thing.
Second visit was at Scarlett House Blok M. I ordered their OG grilled sandwich — portion was huge, almost overwhelming. The bread was nicely grilled and crunchy, good cheese pull, chips were crispy. But taste-wise, it felt quite standard. Decent, but nothing that stood out compared to other grilled sandwiches around town.
Third visit was just recently after their July 2025 menu revamp. I tried quite a few dishes: Prawn Pasta: This one I actually liked. The pasta was cooked al dente, tossed in a red, oily sauce, pretty sure it’s a mix of tomato and olive oil. There’s a hint of sourness in the sauce that made it light and refreshing, and the prawns were fresh, juicy, and cooked well. Chicken Schnitz with Caesar Salad: The chicken breast was thin, sesame-crusted, crispy outside but still juicy. The salad itself was fresh, but what ruined it for me was how salty the parmigiano was. It completely overpowered everything else. The texture and execution were fine, but the balance was off. Chicken Tarragon with Potato Gratin: My personal favorite. The chicken was tender, with crispy skin and a grilled finish. The brown tarragon sauce was light, herby, and earthy without being too rich. The potato gratin was creamy and soft, though a touch more seasoning would’ve made it even better. Fish and Chi(peas): Fresh white fish in a light, crisp batter. What stood out here was the fries — big-cut, double-fried, super crispy. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve had fries quite like these in other cafes around Jakarta. The tartar sauce was okay, creamy and tangy, but nothing special.
About the “to share” portions, it’s not that they’re tiny, but when you read to share, you expect something big enough for two hungry people. In reality, one plate feels more like a personal portion, especially if you come in with a decent appetite. I could probably finish one myself, even while on diet...
Read moresurely the most hype cafe in town! you better not miss this place.
Scarletts opened their third branch in blok m area, bigger and have outdoor dine in option.
Actually I’ve been visited them on the first day opening but have to waited 2,5 hours ++, so I just got some cake for take away.
Then, I’m visiting again on christmas day, and arrived around 11.10, unfortunately I have to wait for 23 waiting list number. I got to dine in around 1 p.m and they have limited 1,5 hours to dine in. So, you better choose the main course, drink and desserts quickly.
I don’t expect they will be that crowded on christmas day. But yeah, I advise you to be arrived before their opening time.
I get to try some menus that aren’t in senopati and pik branch.
Lingurian tagliatelle pesto- OMG this is so good, it’s flavorful, nutty, but not too creamy. The pesto sauce is really superb! hope they will provide some chili flakes or chili sauce, but the server said they don’t have it at that time.
For the cakes, I tried : Classic blackforest - the size of cake is huge, I think you can share it between 3-4 people if you want to try other menu/desserts. I recommend this cake for those who likes chocolate cake because you will taste dominant chocolate each layer of cake, cherries also generous in the layer of the cake and the cream is also not too sweet.
Chai latte, passionfruit & walnut sheetcake - this cake is more fragrant, maybe because of the chai, sweet and sour at the same time when you eat it due to the passionfruit in the layer of the cake.
Calamansi & pecan tart - i like this tart, sweet, sour from the calamansi, it’s unique. I can really smell the calamansi from the tart, and I do love the pecan topping. They are combined perfectly.
Pistachio strawberry confit paris brest - actually, I’d like to try this because of the appearance. For me, the strawberry is more dominant in this, if you like sour then choose this one. The pistachio flavor doesn’t really came out.
For the drinks, I tried matcha orange. The combination between matcha flavor and orange juice giving me a new experience. The matcha taste not too strong and the orange juice also not too sweet, so it’s nice to drink.
Well, this third branch is also aesthetic in every side. Don’t forget to take a lot of photos guys :)
I’d love to visit them again, and tried another pasta & desserts menu. Good...
Read moreJust a big no. Only good for the gram and tiktok tho.
We came in a group of 3, seated in a very small table on the 2nd floor. One of us came first and got seated and ordered matcha tiramisu and a coffee drink and its already taken 1/3 part of table (its only the dessert omg, if we ordered savoury menus, sure its not gonna fit). Asking the staff for changing table and he says its only available in a communal table and lacking of privacy what so on 🤷
Dessert and drinks just MID. Omg guys if yall want a better cakery pls try other places. Yes its pretty for the gram, pretty aesthetic too, but just no. I ordered chai cake and it didn't taste like chai at all, expect a lil bit of cinnamon but where?, ooh and the passion fruit jam? Yeah, doesn't work. The only good thing is its bottom crust. That one flavorful. Ordered drink was iced chocolate, also mid, way too creamy, better to add more milk or water. And the garnish of a cocoa powder, better change it into a mint leaves/any garnish leaf. Friend 1 ordered Choco pie, the choco itself tasted just mid, cream was okay, pie crust was okay. Drink ordered was matcha orange. One word, don't. If y'all ever tasted an antimo (car-sick drink) yup, that what it taste like. Friend 2 ordered matcha tiramisu, cream poured was okay, but in overall just meh. Didn't try her drink so no comment bout this. For almost 500k we of course expect a LOTT better taste.
Omg, trained ur staff better plz. We know that there's 1 ½ hours for us to stay (seeing its queue, make sense tho) but plz, shush us more politely okay. Even we've never kicked out this rudely in a more expensive restos or cafes or even hoteliers-based cafe/resto.
So yep in overall, if y'all lookin for a place to eat cakes, not here plz. Soo many other places serves better-tasted cakes. But if y'all tryna cake-place that looks good for the gram/tiktok, then come (if you could tolerate its queue, 15+ people queued for our spot and its only 1pm on Friday)
Sorry Scarlett's for this bad reviews, hopefully you could made an improvement on the future.
Oooh there's one positive thing in this place, its parking spot. Since its located just right to a TJ's station, you could parked around the road...
