Disappointed is my 1st word as I had a highly expectation from this restaurant.
Did a birthday lunch for my auntie, it was a group of 8. Restaurant was not busy, cos it was on a weekday. We seated on the ground floor Staffs were friendly, but server was not attentive, we had to ask 3-4 times and I even came up to the service area cos mbak kept forgetting my request and relied on her other friend.
Food : Marinated beef tastes really sweet to our liking. I dont know whether they adjust it for Indo market or that is the way it is.
Pork .... I think you can find much better pork from other Korean in Senopati & SCBD.
SANCHU.... What kind of a so called original Korean restaurant, a branch from Seoul, did not serve a proper sanchu. No oba leaves, no garlic... I can compare with Ssm Won Garden for a fair comparison.
Really just lettuce, green chili, carrots.
The only good during our meal is grilled cheese.
Oh yeah.... restaurant is really hot, AC is not on fully. Even my 88 years old granny said... restaurant was hot. Hence I was not exaggerating.
I am out of words to review Sookdal.
I hope they...
Read moreWe ordered the gujeolpan and pork bbq set for 3.
The 차돌바기 (beef brisket) and egg on the gujeolpan were tasty. The meat was of good quality. Other things present in their gujeolpan were 고사리 (gosari), 콩나물 (soybean sprouts), kimchi, and baby bokchoy. What I miss from eating gujeolpan in Seoul was a kind of flour wrapping paper (not sure if it was 도토리밀쌈 or 메밀쌈) and 미나리 (minari) but sadly they were not present here (I know that minari is hard to get outside of Korea).
What can be improved about their technique is on how they torch the filling of the gujeolpan. I agree that the meats and eggs have to be torched to get the top side done and to get that charred flavor. However, the staff that served us sadly torched the vegetables as well, leaving them dry and wilted :(
The pork bbq set for 3 was great. The meat was of good quality. It was tasty. I have no complains.
All of their banchans were also very tasty albeit served in really small portions. We reordered their kimchi because it was very good.
Overall, it was still an ok substitute if you miss eating...
Read moreGreat Korean BBQ place.
It has some space for parking area, but there's valet too.
The first floor is the main dining area, while second floor is private rooms. There are many private rooms too.
We ordered the pork set, they are all tender and really nice, especially the pork jowl. They seasoned the meat on the lighter side, but the condiments are great, especially the garlic mixed with salt & sesame oil. The price for the set is really fair.
The banchan is also nice, especially the anchovy dish. They have normal kimchi and non-sour kimchi too.
We had the yukgaejang too, and it was really hearty and delicious. Really like the beef broth flavor mixed with the onions.
Really enjoy our time there, and...
