The Coffee Academics - ASHTA District 8 — Restaurant in Jakarta

The food itself was great the had the academic breakfast and fish tacos and the chicken and rice for my son. Unfortunately the academics breakfast there was a bit too much oil at the bottom of the plate this is common Indonesia but too much the oil generally cooking but perhaps it could be drained a bit better before being served having a film of oil at the bottom plate wasn't appealing. One of the negative points well a bit frustrating was just sitting outside on the patio the service was not very good when I arrived I was seated outside but then had to wait the more than 10 minutes before a waiter came back out and actually that's only because I waved at him from inside; all of the staff we're inside chatting where it's air conditioning even though there were a few customers out of the patio nobody was paying any attention to what was going on out here. It was the same again when my wife is on the arrived after me they had to wait and actually get up and go inside to flag down a waiter to come take their order, Which was unfortunate. The atmosphere itself it was great we love it here we've been coming a lot in the past the whoever since it opened. Like the variety of foods the coffee is good not the bitter or trendy like some of the third wave new coffee shops we enjoy the coffee here food is great the staff are friendly and whatnot they all know my son which is great. One of their point, we're not smokers so we did sit outside by choice. The table is clean when we arrived but the ashtray itself was not clean, with used cigarettes in the ashtray; perhaps the ashtrays can be removed from the table as standard and only provided when there are smokers rather than having them on all tables automatically outside . It was so hot outside me and my mother wanted to go get something to eat and we saw the sign with ice cream here so we eagerly went inside. At first it seemed great with a large variety of food so we ordered more than what we originally planned. After a while we placed our order and we waited for a little bit, we were first served my ice cream, which unfortunately didn’t taste great but it’s ok because I am open to new flavours. We then ordered an extra sparkling water which arrived as mineral water instead. We waited for 1 hour for the rest of our food to arrive, eventually we had to CANCEL our order because of how long we waited. What makes this even worse is people who came in 30 minutes after us had all their food served within 10 minutes: coffee, giant dishes; even though all we had left was ONE tiny cake and ONE coffee. Even after cancelling our orders and asking for the bill to hurry up and leave we had to wait another 20 minutes just to get the bill. We were also almost charged the price of sparkling water even though we were given mineral water, but I quickly explained the situation. The waiter apologised and said he can switch it out but we really didn’t want to spend more time. All the servers ignored us quite often whenever we asked for the bill so that was really fun. I’m really disappointed because I was planning on bringing my dad and brother to get pizza here but I guess we have to find...

I went in to get a salad and coffee, the guy that took my order was fine and told me to sit down and wait, after 10 mins or so a couple of waiters came to me and asked when I was going to order, in a slightly rude way as if I was just sitting around using their furniture, I tried to explain I had already ordered and was waiting for my food, I understand there is a language barrier as I'm from UK and don't speak bahasa but this felt more than that. The food eventually arrived but there was no avocado in the salad which there should have been so I took it back and tried to explain but was told there shouldn't be avocado in the salad I ordered so I had to get the menu and point at the description of my salad which clearly showed avocado in the ingredients, the staff member handed the salad back to the kitchen and told me to sit and wait which I did for around 10mins after which I went back to the counter to see why it was taking so long just to add some avocado, I was told it was coming and to sit again, the salad eventually arrived and was OK apart from the tired looking lettuce which made most of the dish, after finishing I got up to leave and as I walked past the counter the staff wished me a great day in a mocking tone and when I said "and you too" one of the female staff mimicked me ......rude and...
