Tonkatsu MAiSEN Gandaria City — Restaurant in Jakarta

Slightly discouraged by the negative reviews on Google, particularly concerning the staff services, I decided to give it a chance. It was already late when we visited, around 9 PM.

Regarding the food, the Tenderloin Katsu Set M and Katsumabushi were excellent. The crispiness was just right, and the meat was tender and easy to chew. The texture of the rice was also great, so I would rate it 8 out of 10. The Tenderloin Sando and Dashimaki Tamago with cheese were decent, maybe a 7 out of 10. However, the Edamame, although still edible, was not fresh. We raised this issue, and they provided a replacement, but unfortunately, it was of the same quality, so I would rate it 5 out of 10. Overall, the food quality was satisfying. Despite it being close to closing time, the servers appeared slightly tired but still provided their best service. Therefore, there were no issues with the staff performance during our visit.

However, we did encounter another guest who was startled by a small cockroach disturbing them. The waiters apologized and explained that it was likely from outside. This incident slightly disrupted our dining experience. The establishment should put more effort into pest control and staff cleaning procedures. For example, there was a gap in the table bottom design that the broom could not reach, allowing rubbish and leftover food...

Visited again. I’m glad to see katsu & beer set menu! It’s Happy Beer Day. The set includes choice of katsu set (loin or tenderloin) and a bottle of beer (Heineken of Bintang). As a point of my view, katsu and beer is the most bestest combination. Really enjoyed lunch with this happy beer and katsu.

Visited again to try Tare katsu don. In conclusion, Tare katsu don is less than expected. Omelette skill is not professional and terderloin katsu is just normal, even worse than previous visit. Considering high price (200k), overall cannot meet expectations. Cabbage is very fresh and refillable.

I like Maisen because I’ve been the original Maisen in Tokyo 10 years ago, so it reminds me good memories. But, good memory is just memory. Hope Maisen to be improved.

meh super overrated restaurant, haven't tried the original one from japan but I suppose it will be much better. We ordered the tenderloin and the katsumabushi and both are just pretty average and the taste are more like kimukatsu or katsukita level. Honestly, for the price its not worth it, if you want to eat a much better and authentic tonkatsu based restaurant for about the same price go to katsutoku, the undisputed champion. The service is a joke, especially the hideous and nasty looking waitress name mistari or tari? I politely ask them if they can warm up my infant's food and they refuse to accomodate such a simple task even though the said yes they can in the beginning. This is the first time I experience this while dining out, it's an example of incompetent staff due to inadequate training and poor basic etiquette. If you are in the mood for tonkatsu based restautant I strongly suggest you to avoid this restaurant.
