I reached there at 5.30pm and was led to a table on the beach with a good sunset view. The restaurant was full shortly after.
There is no set menu, so I ordered an ala-carte of grilled red snapper 1.5kg, 0.5kg of grilled sotong and a Coke. The red snapper has a lot of meat and it was fresh, but taste wise, it was just average. As for the grille sotong, it was tough and over-cooked.
Rice and vegetable are complimentary. It came up to about Rp450,000 (S$45). I have an inkling that I was being overcharged. The ‘live’ was never shown to me. I do not know if the seafood were really ‘live’ or from the refrigerator. I do not know exactly the mass of the seafood. I asked for a refill of the sambal chilli but it never came. There is no smile or warmth from the staff at Nyoman which is unusual in Bali. I should have listened to my hired driver and dined at the two other neighbouring seafood restaurants which have slower rating on Google Map. This is the first time that I encountered that the rating at Google Map was differing from my review.
I was charged 10% service charge which in my opinion does not justify. I came across so many places with awesome service and hospitality in Bali that the service at Nyoman came across as inferior to me.
The beach in front of the row of seafood restaurants was crowded with people, whom I believe , came for the sunset. The sunset is beautiful but I had to walked far out towards the water in order to get a decent photo without having people photo-bombing in it. As I am not staying at Jimbaran, I went there one late afternoon, visiting Rock Bar and Nyoman. To me, it is better to see the sunset at Jimbaran Beach than at Rock Bar. The sun was so scorching at Rock Bar that every table had a large table to block out the sun, which also means that the large umbrella blocked out the sea view. I had a more enjoyable time viewing the sunset at Nyoman Restaurant than Rock Bar.
I saw a sign that Uber or Grab are not allowed at Jimbaran. Visitors have to take the local area taxi which I overheard a driver haggling with a client at Rp200,000. I do not like this part that the taxi service is being monopolized here.
Will I recommend Nyoman? No, I will not. However, I dine at Jimbaran Seafood again. The next time, I will look hard for the restaurant with a set menu with a...
Read moreVery disappointing. Nasi Goreng “Seafood” was very very basic with very little of fish, just had some tiny bits of shrimps and that was it. Not even anything else in it. Also quite small portion. At IDR 65,000 very much overpriced, especially if you know that at qualitative local warungs you get a big portion of a very complete Nasi Goreng or Campur at just IDR 30,000. We also had to wait a very long time before we got our food. All three of us got the food at different moments (quite long time apart from each other), which ended up in not really having dinner together. We friendly mentioned quite a few times we weren’t so happy about all of it, but this didn’t result in things becoming any better or speeding things up. The nasi goreng as well as the morning glory (very small portion as well plus very roughly prepared) was containing MSG for sure as I clearly had the effects of it (dry mouth, etc.). The manager mentioned that next time if would be better, that the kitchen was just not doing the best this time and that next time she would check the kitchen better, but we are definitely not coming back to try. All together, just too bad quality for way to high prices. It felt like a tourist trap. We don’t...
Read moreDELICIOUS! I was so pleasantly surprised by how delicious & fresh the seafood is, the sauce is sweet & umami at the same time - with AFFORDABLE price on top of that. We are 4 people who each ordered 2 seafood packages (1 small fish, shrimp, fried squid ((sooo crispy)), another full portion of mussles, and one extra drink the and all in total was only 314.000 IDR! If you ordered a la carte (not packages) you can pick your own fish! It's so worth the money & I could totally recommend this lovely place to everyone, its sooo much worth it than others that are way...
