Base Waroeng — Restaurant in Kuta

Do yourself a favour. We had scootered past this little Warung on Bedegul lane just off Poppies Lane 1 a couple of times. We decided to try it for dinner. There is nothing that you could fault. It is 100% glutton free and the owner has trained for 3 years in glutton free cookery. We aren't glutton intolerant and you couldn't tell anything different about the meals. Seating is on both sides of the road, the settings are very accommodating and very comfortable, the decorations are very warm and welcoming. The food is outstanding, so flavoursome and portion sizes are great, almost too much food but the taste makes you want to clear your plate. It's upmarket dining at local Warung prices. The owner is a lovely lady who is happy to chat and explain all of her recipes to you. Eating here was like being invited to a family home for a meal. The best service with the tastiest food suitable for coeliacs. A gluten-free haven.

Honestly, the people working at the restaurant here are amazing, the friendliest and most caring people I have come across in Indonesia (and that is saying something).

We ordered the katsu chicken, as well as the ginger tea. Both of which were delicious and would definitely recommend.

We met the owner who is coeliac and her partner is too. All the staff, are educated and trained on everything gluten-free as well as coeliac/celiac disease.

The price was really good value for money as the portions were plentiful. The staff certainly spoiled us and even gave us a lovely hot turmeric drink with lovely (gluten-free) cassava cookies.

11/10, would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

I came for just a drink but then got hooked and have come everyday since I discovered this restaurant/cafe.

After talking to the owner Ana about her experience over the last few years and how she had to close her previous restaurant but didn't give up, instead starting again right from the ground up after the devastation since 2020, I love to support a business like this and her vision.

The internet is very good too, and I am happy to come and do my online work and enjoy laughs with the staff.
