If you don’t care to read my long review know this: This is the best chicken tinga quesadilla I’ve had in Bali!
I read reviews about the company charging extra for any little thing. I decided to try because it had many reviews. I started with a michelada. I asked for the beer to be brought separate without being poured into the mix. The waitress Comal immediately said it would be an extra charge. She said it’s their “standard” to pour the beer and serve it already mixed or else they just charge extra. I asked to speak with a manager who also said it’s “the standard”. I said it should not be an issue since I am already paying for the beer and Michelada mix in the cost. Finally I spoke with the owner and he said there is no extra charge and it is no problem for the beer to be served separate for me to pour myself. He mentioned hating to see the drinks wasted with only half drank so I assume this is why they don’t bring the entire beer with the drink. Still he was very understanding and I appreciate that.
Even after this initial unpleasant event, I stayed and Comal was still very kind. She took good care of me and informed me about their house made hot sauces. The medium is hot, it left my mouth tingling so you can imagine the hot is hot! They have good flavor and give a nice burn. The pico de gallo is tasty but not spicy if that’s what you prefer. I ordered the Mexican corn which was okay. I’m used to the Mexican corn at home in Los Angeles that has mayonnaise and spicy powder so it’s not fair to compare but it was still decent. I wouldn’t order it again though. I ordered the chicken tinga quesadilla with the “supreme” for an extra fee to include guacamole, sour cream and jalapeños. The guacamole was good, personally I added salt but it was very fresh. The jalapeños had the traditional pickled taste. The chicken quesadilla was great. The top was toasty and the bottom tortilla got soggy but when I flipped it over to dry out it was fine. Either way it was delicious! The michelada was nice too.
There are two levels of seating. It can feel quite hot and stuffy so although it’s indoors there windows are open so expect an open air feel. The vibe is very on theme and despite the issue it was a welcoming, upbeat...
Read moreSad how things can go wrong fast. Last time had to wait for 15mn for coffee and like half hour for 2 eggs on toast. Was also quite a challenge to get some ground pepper and house hot sauce (usually in a tray on the table). Decided to give them another chance as this was on a "busy" Sunday morning (2 tables of 4 that were about to finish). Unfortunately today was no better as the once greeting owner seems to have the ability to make you feel as a bum who's about to soil his establishment. Even a simple "hello", or a smile to peeps willing to spend their money in your place wouldn't hurt. Over bike parking space. I'd suggest to put a sign and get some basic/hospitality manners. Was nice til it lasted. Had a couple of good times there, bringing friends, and always tipping for quite well knowing how it feels to be on the other side.
Initial review. Hope they straighten their act and get more satisfied customers : Stopped by being teased by the 35K all day breakfast add and was very nicely surprised. Not only by the quality of the food, but also by the friendly (not pushy) waiter Donny, the fact that the coffee (included in the offer) was large enough and had milk on the side, that there is not any hidden ++++++ and other add-ons on the bill... Excellent reggae/ska musical background and, cherry on top, the boss greeting his new customers. You got it seriously right guys. Highly recommended, my new morning meal station in this area. Will try the...
Read moreWe were swarmed by bees the whole meal. Otherwise it would be a nice atmosphere. Staff is excellent. Food was mediocre. Quite expensive for Indonesia, but we did order dessert which we don't normally order. We got 2 mocktails (they were ok) and one fruit drink (not good). We got cheesecake for each of us. We should have shared as the price is so high. The cheesecake was really good. Not the best we've had but better than most any cheesecake you can find in Asia. They do charge extra to dribble a little Hershey's syrup on it (weird to charge for something so small and cheap!!!!). Skip the cheap Hershey syrup. Not good. The flautas were really good. Comes with 3. My teenage boy needed 2 orders as they are a bit small for a growing boy. I got 3 tacos with taco Tuesday deal and added on the meal deal. Tacos had lots of filling but aren't the nice homemade corn shells that are thick. The soft flour shells definitely fall apart. You get like 1/4 a cup of flavorless beans and a good amount of yummy Spanish rice. Not sure why they'd skimp so much on beans? (I always make my beans so flavorful at home. It's not hard!) The pork taco was disappointing. Normally the pork is best with lots of garlic, cumin, sauce. Not here. Pork was dry and flavorless. Fried chicken and regular chicken were both really good. My daughter liked her beef burrito. It was a good size. Not...
