A Disheartening Experience at Kuta Beach My visit to Kuta Beach was, unfortunately, far from the idyllic beach day one might expect. Surprisingly, this beach has received reviews with more than two stars, which I find baffling considering the multitude of issues I encountered. Firstly, the overcrowding was unlike anything I’ve seen before - it made famous spots like Waikiki Beach, Muscle Beach, and beaches in Marbella, Greece, and Mallorca seem deserted by comparison. The sheer number of people was overwhelming. Upon arrival, I was bombarded by numerous vendors aggressively trying to sell various items, rent chairs, and offer food. Navigating through this barrage of sales pitches was a challenge in itself, and it took considerable effort to even reach the sand. The condition of the beach was deeply concerning. Littered with trash and plastic debris, both on the sand and floating in the water, it stood as a stark reminder of the escalating environmental crisis. This issue desperately needs attention from local authorities. While the scenic beauty of the beach was undeniable, it was overshadowed by these negative aspects. Most alarming, however, was an incident involving a suspicious individual. As our children played in the sand, a man in his 30s approached and began interacting with them, prompting me to intervene. This encounter was unsettling and raised serious safety concerns. For families considering a visit, I strongly advise caution or even seeking alternative beach destinations. Kuta Beach, with its current state of overcrowding, environmental neglect, and potential safety risks, is a place I would not recommend for a peaceful or enjoyable family outing.

You can relax under the shade of an umbrella, sipping on a refreshing drink while taking in the lively scene around you. The sunsets at Kuta Beach are truly awe-inspiring. Was expecting more, to be honest. Having been in beaches all around Europe, south east Asia, and Brazil, Kuta beach was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, but there are a few things I did not like - and maybe it's just me because I've so many other beaches to compare to. But first, the beach is dirty. I mean there is not just things like logs, thrown away coconuts - i.e., biodegradable/natural stuff - but also just plain rubbish, all over the place. Second, the water is filled with those too, especially close to the shore. I was tangling my feet on plastic, bags, etc, constantly. Third, there's a large amount of people taking surfing lessons all over this beach - there aren't designated areas for that - so I was always looking over my shoulder to make sure there wasn't some wannabe surfer about to run over me and my wife. Those two last items really put me off swimming here. I was back in Kuta the following day, but decided to not get nowhere near the water. Might be ok for some, but I personally did not find it this a good beach at all for swimming - might be better for surfing though as there are quite good waves here, and they're relatively close to the shore, so it's easier for beginners. I did at least stay for the sunset, and at least that was satisfying. It is beautiful to watch. You can grab a sit in any of the "bars" on the beach itself, get a drink and wait for the sunset to get some gorgeous shots. But overall, this is just not the beach for me.

One of very popular beach in the south of Bali area. Lot of people spending n killing the time during sunset here. Free to entry n enjoy this beach. Except if you bring own transportation. Parking available for lots of motorcycle, n for car there's parking lot in the nearly end of the road along the beach. Facility such as toilet available here. There's some food street hawkers selling here. Near the beach alot of restaurants, luxury hotels and minimarkets, and off course there's one of biggest mall in Bali (Beachwalk mall) too with plenty of famous brands and international food restaurant. During the pandemic, situation more calm, cleaner, n comfortable for tourists to hanging around this area instead before pandemic that was always crowded, dirtier, n become busy spot beach everyday.

I loved the beach. Having a cold Bintang beer watching the sun setting over the ocean. The only draw back locals push hard to sell you wrist bands and trinkets. They are very persistent. If you get to the beach early you can negotiate a cheaper rate to rent sun chairs under a beach umbrella. Arriving around sunset will cost you more to rent the sun chairs. People are allowed to let off fireworks on the beach after sunset which can be purchased from locals relatively cheaply. It is always to check with security or locals where to do this before launching fireworks. But overall a very pleasant experience and great for the whole family.
