Blue Marlin Cafe — Restaurant in Kuta

Worst ever service by the poor lazy staff at this resto!!

We were directed by driver to Blue Marlin, unfortunately we didnt check the review prior to arrive at this resto.

When we arrived there, there are just 2 customers - My family (local Indonesian) and foreign tourist. The way the lazy stuff treated us is 100% different with the foreigner.

Its started when we need to change my 8months old baby diaper, so we just take off his slipper and put temporary on the table (the slipper is clean fyi). When the stuff is bringing the drink to our table, he said very rude to my wife to remove the slipper off from table as he left the table.

Other thing was this staff is always come to the foreigners table and have a chit chat with them and “tried” looks like a friendly guy while he never come to us just to asking anything. We dont care actually about this, but come on guys, you have to be a professional when serve all the customers no matter what is their nationality.

You just need to wait the customer leave the table before you can clean the table 😌

Nothing special about the food quality. The price also extremely high with that taste.

The Blue Marlin Cafe boasts a stunning beachfront location, making it a prime spot to catch a breathtaking sunset. However, regrettably, our dining experience left much to be desired. We began with a round of cocktails, but to our disappointment, none of them hit the mark. It seemed like the bartender went overboard with alcohol, overshadowing the flavours.

Furthermore, our meal was marred by the repeated offer of a complimentary cocktail that simply didn't align with our tastes. This gesture, while well-intentioned, missed the mark.

As for the main course, we ordered seafood dishes that, unexpectedly, were smothered in what appeared to be tomato sauce. While this sauce might be suitable for an Italian restaurant, it felt out of place in a seafood-centric establishment. Fresh seafood should shine on its own, without the need for heavy sauces.

Despite the excellent beachfront setting and attentive service, the culinary experience fell short of our expectations. While The Blue Marlin Cafe has its merits, we may need some time before considering a...

BEWARE OF CROOKED STAFF WHO SWITCH YOUR ORDERS FOR SMALLER ONES. This is one of these places where you select the fish and tell them how you want it cooked. We chose 2 fish that weighted 1 kg each raw. Asked them specifically not to cook it butterfly style(when they open it up like butterfly and cook both sides, it always come out dry. Now I also think they do it so you cant really compare it to the original fish you ordered. So...the fish we got was less than 70% size of the fish we selected and fried butterfly style. They essentially said yes to everything we agreed, did everything their way AND cheated us out of 30% of the value.This is a very poor country and you have to stay alert 100% of the time or you will be taken advantage off virtually everywhere.
