New Moon Cafe Seafood — Restaurant in Kuta

CAUTION THIS PLACE IS A RIPPED OFF! I was there for lunch with my mother and my mothers in law. Somehow we missed communication to eat in jimbaran seafood and her driver took her to this place instead of the place that we planned to ( at the corner of jimbaran bay or near four season resort). As they are already there and the driver went gone so we decided to eat there at New matahari Cafe.

we took 3 fish about 5.5 kg for all which came with 3 lilte plate of vege ( tumis kangkung not plecing kangkung that not even fresh), 3 set of little saous (sambal that taste nothing), and 3 little plate of fruits, and 2 glass of ice tea and 5 fresh juice.

ALL OF THOSE FOR 2.7 Milion or about 200 USD 7 person wich mean 380/person. That price as high as the super 5 stars beach restaurant in a big 5 stars resort.

The place is not even nice, the table was dusty, the food TASTE NOTHING, The sauce/ Sambal are not fresh. The staff the one with birthday tatto on his arm 17.08.84 is really rude and racist (only nice to my western family) and he requested us to pay the bill before the food even come because he is out of shift. and of course he took the commission with him thats why we payed alots. they also work with a driver who brought a guest to their restaurant for commission.

PS: in the other place when i went just 2 weeks before for 2 person, come with 1 fish 1.7kg, 2 plate of fresh vege, 2 plate of fruits, 2 set of sauce which come in 4 different sauce in 1 set, and 2 of large Bintang for only IDR 350 or USD 27. i can understand for little expensive. but double price for even less things is way to much. the place, service, food, location are bad.

The experience at this restaurant started off excellent as we came to the entrance, but we left slightly disappointed. To be sure, even without the sunset I highly rate the atmosphere. The lights and decorations inside are beautiful, and complementing it is the overall tidiness of the restaurant.

Upon receiving our menus, however, the first thing that struck me was how expensive the items were. True, this is a seafood restaurant by the beach and the food tasted good. Yet, for what it’s worth, I wasn’t exactly impressed with the seafood combo that I got. Eating a (medium-sized) fish full of bones and a crab isn’t exactly a pleasant experience and I left feeling like I could’ve eaten more (choosing from the sides is probably more cost-effective).

The service is nothing special. The staff was friendly and the delivery of food was timely, but otherwise they could’ve been more attentive when we needed the bill.

If you want to take advantage of the beach, bear in mind that there’s nowhere to change into swimwear (you could use one of their shower stalls, but they’d need to be rented).

I rate this restaurant 4-stars, though I don’t see myself coming back. Truthfully, I’m no seafood expert and I haven’t tried any of their side dishes. Still, the local food is far more filling, tasty, and much,...
