I hadnāt been to Jalan Benesari for a couple of years, but it was nice to see a new cafe opening up. Back before the pandemic, Crumb & Coaster was pretty much the only place to sit down for a coffee in this area.
Toasted avocado smash was simply amazing. Though the sourdough bread was sold out and had to be replaced by a croissant, my smashed avocados were fresh, eggs poached to perfection, and the pesto sauce enticing my appetite. The portion was generous for the price of just 55k (with no additional charge even for eat-ins), which makes this place more budget-friendly than C&C. Iād call out to all you avocado lovers out there, you must try this one!
The chicken and avocado sandwich wasnāt too special, but didnāt disappoint me either.
Staff were friendly, and the jazz music they played was at the right volume. The only thing I noticed was the AC wasnāt working too well.
I would gladly recommend this place to anyone seeking good coffee and refreshing food after a shopping spree at the nearby...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been coming here 3ā4 times a week and used to love the place. Lately, though, Iāve been treated poorly, my recent experience was especially disappointing. I asked a staff member a simple payment question (something Iāve done before without issue), but was ignored at first, then met with a cold attitude.
Itās disheartening as a regular expat who genuinely tries to connect by speaking the local language, only to feel treated differently than tourists.
The cook a young man, is always friendly and thereās one younger girl who is also friendly too, but the one controlling and accepting the payments always has a bad altitude.
Her attitude clearly shifts depending on who you are, and unfortunately, itās made me feel unwelcome. At the very least, regulars expats deserve the same basic courtesy and warmth shown to visitors and tourists. Iām not sure if Iād like to continue coming back here given the poor attitude from one of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice ambience, but unfortunately our avocado smash bread didn't taste good at all. The bread had nothing to do with a sourdough bread but was a very plain white bread, completely dry and hard and tasted of nothing. The avocado was not seasoned at all, was very bland and had skin on it. The poached egg was completely hard and cooked through, so it was just a hard-boiled egg. It also had a strong vinegar flavor (I know vinegar is supposed to be in the cooking water, however, the egg needs to be drained before serving). The coffee was okay at best, but not worth the price. Overall very disappointing, definitely way too expensive for 170k. After our complaint at the store, we were offered to exchange the bread, but we didn't understand what it was to be exchanged for. Nothing was taken off the bill or otherwise...
