This place is popular, we came at peak dinner time (~7.30pm) and were told that we had to wait very long for a table. Hence, we walked around at the nearby Discovery Mall for about an hour or so, because we read the reviews were so good and we wanted to try it because it was our last night in Bali.
We came back at about 9pm, and it was still busy. There was no queue, but there was only one table available by the road. So we were directed to it. If you have a choice, I would recommend not sitting here; it was hot and stuffy as there was no fan above the table (as compared to the inside tables) and for some strange reason, there was also no breeze during the time we ate. There was also a mosquito flying around my legs 🫠 so pls have your repellent ready.
We ordered the nasi goreng, chicken burger and spring rolls, which were all highly raved. I think the nasi goreng lived up to its hype, it was very tasty with a “wok hey” flavour. The chicken burger was good too; the cheese with the cutlet was delicious, the sauce and the deep fried onion was superb. The spring rolls felt a little disappointing - portions were good (it was honestly quite filling) but it was so-so. The filling was basically vegetables, even though the menu stated there’s meat, there were only a few bits inside. I guess can’t complain since this is a spring roll, not a meat roll 😅
Overall, prices are very reasonable and food is good. Service was great too, they were very friendly if not overwhelmed. For payment, there is an additional 3% charge for credit cards but debit cards do not have this. But perhaps where we were seated wasn’t ideal and didn’t make the experience as perfect as we...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem, Shinta Warung is! Definitely the best value meal I've ever had in Bali.
I started with the chicken and vegetable spring rolls. 3 large spring rolls stuffed with vegetables, although not much chicken, with a beautiful tasting peanut sauce. Only improvement would be to add more chicken.
For my main, I opted for the Mei Goreng. This was fried noodles with chicken and vegetables. I also added two satay skewers and another peanut dipping sauce. This peanut dipping sauce was thicker than the one provided with my spring roll starter, but lovely tasting all the same.
A little off the beaten track and quite hard to find with all the plants along the wall and only two small signs displaying the restaurant's name. It all adds to the charm of the place.
I guess it could seat 30 people, absolute max and whilst there was only two other tables taken, the music matched the ambience and the excellent staff added to the overall experience.
With my soda, the bill was 102,000, which is about £5. Amazing value.

Read moreThis was the last restaurant I ate at before heading back to the states. Everything was okay until I boarded the plane and felt chills all of a sudden. I've been having diarrhea for 4 days since that plane ride home. I had ordered the burger, which was a mistake because it's ground beef, and there was also lettuce. It's an outdoor restaurant with flies buzzing around and with tropical heat. Perfect to make ground meat go bad and for flies to land on unattended vegetables. I mostly had the burger myself, but fed a bite or 2 to my kids (1 and 4 years old). My 4 year old is fine, but my 1 year old is also having diarrhea. The rest of my family is fine because they didn't eat the burger. Now I'm in adult diapers because it's THAT BAD. Please save yourself the trouble and just avoid the burger
They had good music playing by Lisa Ono. I'll give them that AND their...
