I was not really happy with this place. First of all the staff was not very friendly, when we walked in. Every restaurant on this road is begging people to come in and eat. This place seemed like they didn't even care if we came in. We should have followed our instinct but we wanted to have a few drinks and do some traffic and people watching.
We had to move to a new table because the person next to us started smoking in the restaurant. It is not enjoyable to smell someone else's cigarette smoke. In four days in Bali I have not had anyone light up next to us while dinning in a restaurant.
We started with some beer. We were also given a welcome shot. The waitress told us there was vodka in there but it was more sweet then anything. It was a nice gimmick but not the reason we stopped in here.
Our little one was hungry so we ordered a kids pizza off the menu. The pizza looked really good. I had a little taste but didn't think the cheese was the best quality. Luckily kids will eat anything and think its amazing food except for raw fish.
The chairs were also really uncomfortable. In fact, between the bad service and butt pain we decided to stop at one round of drinks. We would have loved to stay longer but this place was not much fun. There was also rap music blasting. It all just seemed out of place in Bali.
This place reminded me of an American chain. I would expect this kind of feel from a TGI Fridays. When traveling, I try to avoid the cliche fake wannabe places. This place does not scream "Welcome to Bali" to me. I should have walked out when the staff acted indifferent to my family.
I am not sure what the deal with the Internet here was but the guy wouldn't give me the pass code for the Bamboo Wifi. Instead he told me they didn't have it and I should use the Bali country free wifi. When you open wifi the Bamboo wifi pops right up first. I thought he said it didn't exist. Every restaurant on this road has there own wifi for customers. It felt like he didn't want me using it. Again another reason to just walk out.
I'm sorry I wasted my money here. Next time I see the bad signs I should just keep walking. There's a ton of restaurants just up the street that really want my business. I should have spent my money there instead...
Read moreThere's is nothing bad about this place per se but there's various cumulative this that start to irritate a paying customer.
The food is pretty good but slightly overpriced for the area. However, the environment is very nice and it's obvious they have put a lot of thought/money into the venue so paying a little extra is perfectly fine.
The drinks are also a little pricier but once again, given the venue, it's fair enough.
My problem was the service (and I'm not a service-orientated person). I ordered another bucket of beer (after finishing our two first buckets); after 10 minutes I was asked by another waitress would I like more beer. I said we've already ordered but the beer hasn't arrived yet. Another 10 minutes went by and still no beer. We attempt to get attention of the staff but it was proving impossible. Eventually we were spotted (the place wasn't busy) and asked about our beer. She went away and spoke to another waitress who came and said she wasn't informed about the order. I told her we asked the man in the white shirt. She raised her eyebrows as if to indicate he's useless and said he didn't tell her. By now it was almost 25 minutes. As I told her, we probably could have almost finished the bucket between the 3 of us in that time so they had lost some sales. She didn't seem particularly bothered.
Another irritation is the loudness of the (bad) band. It's impossible to have a conversation and you're forced to listen to bad covers from people who can't sing.
After the band they put on music videos that are frankly awful. Basically a load of hair naked women twerking. No wonder the bar cleared. Perhaps that's why they put it on; they are guaranteed to clear their high paying customers by...
