WACKO CAFE & EATERY — Restaurant in Kuta

I ordered breakfast menu, Florentine. I was so excited by its look but then i was disappointed because the poached eggs on it wasn't runny. It's more like a 6-minute soft boiled egg than 4.5min poached egg.

My family tried the speedy gonzales burger. It's a burger made with soft bun, caramelized onion, tortilla chips, some kind of spicy salsa, a big and meaty patty, some vegs. It was really delicious and very satisfying to bite into, with different texture and all. The patty were not too overworked (i.e. meatball-y) unlike other stall. With its size and sauces, its one messy burger to eat, but burger ain't made to be eated in sophisticated manner.

Another foods we ordered was fried rice. It's good and the portion was generous. It's served with sunny side up and fried sausage.

One thing that really impresses us is the service. The waitress were very friendly. They didn't only ask what to order but they also tried to make a conversation to get connection with us like where are we from, where do we stay, how long we have been in Bali, etc. Those level of service i can find mostly in hotel. We really feel welcome here.

The ambience was also nice and homey. There was a little paddy rice at the back of the resto which is a sight to see. Surely will be back again if we go to...

Unfortunately, after many people recommended wacko to me... it was a let down.

Now if you consider yourself a burger connoisseur, you’ll be let down.

However, if you are an average burger eater, you’ll probably enjoy it.

I don’t know how to describe it, but I’ve had it at a few burger places here in Bali and there’s only 1 place I’d go for a beef burger and it’s in seminyak.

But these burgers and many like it, the patty seems to disintegrate and turn into nothing when you bite into it.

It’s then like your chewing on bun lettuce and pickles because the patty itself has nothing to it.

The fries tasted very flat. Even with the sauce (which was quite good) the fries still had this flat nothing taste.

And the corn.... I’m an avid lover of corn and this was about as flavourful as a cardboard box.

I actually avoided going to wacko for over a year now to keep the dream alive, unfortunately I’ve been let down again.

It’s a tough life being a burger connoisseur. You’re let down more times than not but you also want to always try the burger when you see that it looks good or people...

This seemed to be the best burger stop in town so we decided to try. It’s next to the rice fields, so cool inside, has nice decor and staff quick to seat you as soon as you arrive.

I thought the menu was creative and extensive, great options and like you can change any burger to a different meat at no extra charge. That’s a really nice touch.

Onion rings were a great portion, hot, crispy. Really enjoyed them. Fries, again, I did upgrade here as I was a little worried about the portion of fries that it would came with but for 20k more the portion is more than enough for a very hungry person! Unfortunately the main event let me down, I ordered the speedy Gonzalez and was very bland, not a lot of flavour to it at all. Bun looked great and held up well but the actual burger itself, for me. 3/5. Disappointing.

Maybe it was a bad night at the office for the burger or I should have ordered the chicken. I would return and hopefully my main event won’t let me...
