Best food in Malang!!
We had a fantastic experience dining at this Indonesian restaurant in Malang! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They were not only friendly and attentive but also went the extra mile to accommodate our vegetarian preferences, customizing several traditional dishes just for us.
The food was absolutely amazing — rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish had a perfect balance of spices and fresh ingredients, and it was clear that a lot of care went into the preparation. Even as vegetarians, we were able to enjoy a wide variety of authentic Indonesian flavours, which is not always easy to find.
Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Malang, especially if you're looking for a warm atmosphere, great service, and unforgettable food with vegetarian options. We went there twice and we were always positively surprised. The chef Marno is the soul of this place, with his smile and welcoming attitude, everyone is taken care of and treated like the most important guest.
Thank you for this amazing experience and the best food we had so far...
Read moreOn a Saturday night, my family and I dined at De Kajoetangan. We ordered Nasi Goreng Omen Deui, Mie Tung Klunthung (soupy noodles), and snacks like fried banana and bakwan (vegetable fritters). On the positive side, the service was excellent, and the place is spacious. However, we were quite disturbed by the loud live music with fast-tempo songs. Since we were seated in the VIP room, the added noise from the TV monitors made the environment uncomfortably noisy. This needs more attention—people come here to enjoy a meal, not to be overwhelmed by loud music from multiple directions. It became difficult to have a relaxed...

Every dish we tried was thoughtfully crafted and beautifully presented. The balance of spices, textures, and flavours was impressive, blended so that each bite told a story. The sambal was a standout: fresh and fiery, and complex without overpowering the dish.
What also stood out was the use of fresh, quality ingredients—nothing felt overly processed or heavy. Even the side dishes were complex and elegant at the same time. The plating was done with care, not just rushed out of the kitchen.
Service was professional and attentive, yet warm. The staff knew their menu well and made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences.
If you’re a foodie looking to explore the authentic and elevated side of Indonesian cooking, this place is a gem. Can’t wait to return and try more...
