Terracotta Restaurant Ubud — Restaurant in Pulau Bali

What I liked - we rocked up hot and hungry at 4pm & although we were super early for dinner and way too late for lunch, we were served quickly and without any hassle (we were the only people in the restaurant). We asked if we could take a quick dip in the pool right there overlooking the ride paddies while the food was being prepared, and they were cool with that. The food arrived within 20 minutes, and was well presented.

Why I wouldn't go back again - Terracotta is presenting itself as an upmarket restaurant, with prices to match. ... a meal for 2 with 2 drinks (no alcohol), 2 mains and desserts set us back just under Rp500,000. The menu out the front on the road had much lower prices than the menu you get at the table, and don't forget to add 21% tax and 7% service charge.

For the money, the food was not spectacular. It was ok. The honey pork was a pork medallion drenched with some sort of sauce that may or may not have involved honey, definitely not the meal I was hoping for with meat that is so tender you don't need a knife. ... not that meal at all. You need a knife. And if you're hoping for something sticky and sweet, bring your own honey too. The mixed sate plate was 5 small sates, 4 different meats and a veg one. Its a 'big plate/small meal' kinda place. We don't usually order desserts but the mains just didn't fill the spot, so we ordered the mixed plate for 2, the standout there was the lemon meringue, everything else looked and tasted like it had come out of a packet. This restaurant is one of the Mathis collection, the one in the Seminyak area too. Located in Lungsiakan, Ubud, just drive through Ubud main road, pass Sanggingan area, and there's the restaurant at the left side of the main road. Park your car and go through the foyer area, just walk through and you'll see the sign of the restaurant. Usually people eat here have their reservation first, but I think in low season, just walk-in......

The atmosphere is awesome, if you're lucky then you'll have your meal with a view of green or golden rice field, unfortunately when I came, it's just harvested, so only mud view. But they try to make the view nice with a lamp along the rice field's path, and they put many lantern in the swimming pool......very romantic and very dramatic....

The restaurant decor was nice too, the wait staff very nice and friendly. Good hospitality.....they have quiet choice of food in their menu. If you're not sure, just ask the wait staff. The food is delicious, I like it......but I don't like the price....but okay, you want eat well, you must pay well....no doubt....so I try Fish Two Way.......it taste very good.....

Consider this restaurant is very worth to try for once or twice, when you stayed in Ubud, especially if you're couple.....feel the romantic atmosphere. Try it for lunch and dinner........
