KAWI UBUD — Restaurant in Pulau Bali

Kawi is an absolute hidden gem of the Ubud bar scene. Its a beautiful intimate bar with some of the best cocktails I've had anywhere in the world and an ambience and leafy outlook that helps you unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of the main strip.

They specialise in creating amazing drinks using boutique small batch Arak (a local spirit with a similar taste profile to Sake), infusing local produce and so much love and care into each drink.

The mixologists are amazing humans who are super friendly and up for a chat and they help you understand the special nature of Arak and are happy to step you through what makes their creations so damn special.

They also do great tequila based drinks, and have a jasmine tea infused campari number that is so well balanced too.

It's so reasonably priced, with bar snacks that compliment the cocktails so well. (I personally loved the quail eggs!)

This is our deadset go to for pre or post dinner drinks when in Ubud, and it should...

One of our best bar experiences in Bali. The cocktails were very tasty and well balanced (my favourite cocktail was the “Teh”). The bar concept pays homage to Balinese culture and felt very original. Each cocktail has a story and uses locally sourced ingredients. The ambience is very intimate and calming (the music fit the vibe so well - calming yet fun) and is a great change from the busy bars in Ubud town.

Extra points for Wayan, our bartender. We had great conversations with him. He was attentive and very good to talk to. He provided great suggestions and took great care of us. Talking to him made us feel like we were at a bar with friends!

A hideaway with an inconspicuous entrance. The bar is minimalist with dim lighting and a very nice vibe. Seats surround the bar counter, not unlike an omakase counter except that Kawi’s bar counter has generous depth, making it especially inviting.

The drinks are carefully prepared using top quality international and local artisanal spirits, blended skilfully with locally sourced ingredients. What you get are unique, well-balanced and delicious cocktails where the quality of the liquors used are showcased, plus they have a nice kick to them.
