I come here as a couple on November 24th, 2020. It's still soft opening, which I consider that there's a hope of improvement. I hope in the future there's still a chance for me to rise the star of this review approximately next month.
The waitress is nice. Unfortunately, she didn't repeat my order and almost leave the table immediately to put the order to the chef. I asked her before she go, "will you repeat the order", and then I can hear that she forgot I ordered Ice Tea.
I ordered 1 NZ Sirloin Classic (medium, mashed potato, mushroom and blackpepper sauce, add on smoke beef) and 1 Marinated Tenderloin Classic (the cheapest beef steak, medium well, french fries, mushroom sauce) with extra BBQ sauce. I also ordered Meat Lover Pizza small size with extra Mozarella and 2 creme brulee (I always order that dessert when I see a restaurant/cafe that have it). For the drinks I ordered Strawberry Flaffy and Ice Tea.
Why I ordered mushroom and blackpepper because the waitress told me I can get 2 sauce, although when my steak arrive, I only got blackpepper sauce. At the same time, I didn't get my smoke beef on my NZ Sirloin Classic. After I ate more than half of my steak, finally the Tenderloin come, with a smoke beef and the extra BBQ sauce. The Tenderloin also cooked as well done where I ordered medium well.
The drinks came before the steaks which for me is important and the taste are good. I can understand why they put Strawberry Flaffy as a refreshing drink which for me (someone who don't like strawberry), I like it.
The 2 creme brulee then came which makes me excited to see a creme brulee in front of me. I even ordered 2 so I will not share mine with my girlfriend. Unfortunately (again), the excitement gone so fast when I get the first bite. It's really easy to describe it, the creme is like I'm eating a tasteless mashed potato. The only fortune I got from the creme brulee is the brulee which is I don't think any restaurants nor cafes will get wrong with it (duh, it's only sugar), except the burnt it.
I finished my creme brulee (I'm paying, need to finish all, lol) but my girlfriend only eat one bite of the creme and only finished the brulee. After that a waitress come and asked me are there any order which haven't come out yet. I told her that my pizza hasn't come out and I asked her to cancel it. She said she will see the kitchen and see if it's still long she will cancel it and I agreed. Later she come and told me they need 3 minutes for the pizza and I say "just put it on take away".
There's also flies in my table enjoying my drinks (gladly the flies come after we finished eating and drinking).
The sauce are nice, I enjoy those. For the steak's veggies, in my opinion it's a little bit overcooked, especially the carrots.
The place is cool and nice, cozy. Clean bathroom. It almost make me give 2 star, yet sorry that I still give it 1 as a honesty and as a prayer for better improvement. I also consider the price of the foods are worth for the environment alone.
That's why I am sorry to put that 1 star. I planned to come again next month to order the best steak, the same cheapest beef steak (the Tenderloin) and once again my most favorite dessert, the holy creme brulee. I look forward for the...
Read moreWas dinning here with family at first, then next day for a lunch break with a mission of food testing, since they have a private room. The menus we ordered were: Meat Lover Pizza (Small/ 4 Slices) Aglio é Olio w/ Prawn (no chilli) NZ Sirloin Steak (200 gr) Caramelized Butter Prawn
Meat Lover Pizza was good, a type of pizza with thick dough. Presentation was nice, Cheese and sauce was generous, pepperoni and sausage was ok, overall taste is good, pricing was good on 45k. 7.5/10 for this.
The Aglio é Olio w/ Prawn was good, presentation is nice, there were about 4 prawns in one serving, overall taste was also nice, with pricing on 58k. It could be a subjective, but personally this one is also 7.5/10.
Caramelized Butter Prawn was great, portion and presentation was good! Smells nice too. Loved this one, and also taste good on 62k per serving; a little bit over but still, a 8/10. Personal fave.
Now this one, NZ Sirloin Steak, is my least fave. I ordered a medium doneness level. The meat taste was ok and juicy, meat looks good, but the presentation was kinda boring with a white dinner plate. The mushroom sauce was just ok. There are better ones out there. Also, this was my first time trying the NZ Meat, and probably not my fave. With 125k/ portion, i think this will go with 6/10.
But all in all, the experience was lovely. The resto located near central Surabaya, good parking lot and valet service. They also have about 2 private room for private reservation (capacity about 15 people/room) and charged a minimum spend about 1.2 - 1.8 mio/ room. Service was also good, the waiter & waitress know the menus well. They almost have a full house both on my visit time too. Oh, the iced americano is also nice. Will probably back for next event or...
Read moreHad the pleasure of dining at Carnis Restaurant in Gubeng, and I must say that the food exceeded my expectations in terms of taste and value for money. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor. The menu offered a wide variety of options to cater to different palates, and considering the reasonable prices, the culinary experience provided excellent value for money.
However, there were a few aspects of the restaurant that detracted from the overall dining experience.
Despite the restaurant's spacious area, the arrangement of tables, seats, and furniture made the place feel cramped and tight. Even when the restaurant was only half full, it lacked the desired level of comfort. The arrangement could be improved to create a more spacious and relaxing dining environment, especially during peak hours when the restaurant is at full capacity. While Carnis may be suitable for dining with colleagues, it may not be the ideal choice for a comfortable family gathering.
Cleanliness at Carnis Restaurant was satisfactory, but there is room for improvement. Although the overall hygiene standards were acceptable, paying attention to the finer details and maintaining impeccable cleanliness throughout the establishment would elevate the dining experience further.
On a positive note, the parking area at Carnis Restaurant was convenient, with valet service available. This feature ensures a hassle-free experience for patrons who prefer not to worry about finding parking spaces.
One area where Carnis Restaurant could make significant improvements is the lighting. The current lighting setup creates a dim ambiance, which may not appeal to everyone. Brighter lighting would enhance the overall atmosphere and make the dining experience more...
