I got chicken in my “Vegetarian” meal!

Me and my boyfriend stopped here because of numerous blackboards outside boasting VEGAN in big letters. We were ignored totally so he eventually went to the cashier and ordered a vegetable curry and a beer which both came after about half an hour. My food was still nowhere to be seen. After 10 minutes I asked if my food would be coming soon and I was told impatiently to “wait a moment”. It was almost an hour after ordering that I eventually got my tempeh burger, I was slightly annoyed at this point because no one ever apologised or updated me with what was happening. When I started picking at the fries I noticed there was a lump of chicken in there with them. I know that vegetarianism isn’t always totally understood here or in SE Asia in general but I always check and check and check again and just.. don’t advertise VEGAN outside if it is just a buzz word for you to get westerners to eat here. I have been vegetarian my whole life and the staff here didn’t understand or care how upsetting it was to get meat...

Sad they only get 1 star from me because of simply not fixing my bad dinner! I ordered the Chicken Plecingan. When it arrived it smelled sooo bad. Smelled like rotten fish. Everyone at my table smelled and even tried it but was horrible. The male owner even tried it and said “yea, it’s chicken”. 😡 Didn’t offer to get me anything else when we all just wanted it off of the table. Having owned a restaurant in the past, I know that this new restaurant on Gili Air doesn’t care about customer service. When a customer complains, legitimately, do something about it. Yes, I paid full price for something I didn’t eat!...

Where to start... after a week staying on Gili Air we came to this restaurant 5 times! Their food is AMAZING! Over the week my fiancé and myself had their chicken burritos (twice), chicken and avocado sandwich (twice), Mahi Mahi burger (twice) and hummus falafel, their iced white coffee is amazing and for 5k you can refill your water bottle. Be prepared to wait a bit as they make everything from scratch, trust me it is worth the wait! The waiters are friendly, and the owner was very lovely and made us feel at home.
