Dukes Coffee Company — Restaurant in Cork

I know this is not the end of the world but it is important. Myself and my partner were just in for breakfast. My partner had French toast and I had a full breakfast. So after 10mins or coffees came followed by the French toast. I was assured that my breakfast Is on its way. As we ate there before we didn't think to much of that . However after 15mins still no breakfast until I asked if my breakfast is on it's way again I was assured it was . At this stage my partner had nearly finished her breakfast and after 30mins I received my breakfast. I asked why it took so long and I was told that they had to COOK the breakfast. I wouldn't mind normally but infairness there was about 7 staff while the owner overseeing from the table at the end of the stairs. I wanted to highlight because I received no apology, rational or even a sense that my custom was important. Blaming the cooking of a simple breakfast is not an excuse for very poor service. Used to be a regular but the last time I went in there was probably one of the worst experiences I've had in a cafe in cork. My coffee cup was dirty and had what looked like seeds stuck to the inside. Ordered the fry, which I definitely remember having more than just sausages, pudding, rashers and eggs on it previously. Brown toast came out. I hadn't been asked what type of toast I wanted and it hadn't struck me when I was ordering. I went down to ask if they were out of white bread or something. The person who seemed to be the manager simply said yes and then turned away from me. This was also while they were relatively quiet. My eggs were very oversalted. The toast I did get was cold and I got 2 pieces of butter, both of which had entirely melted. The fry cost me €13 and was the size of a mini breakfast most places.

Coffee is alright, but the Wifi isn’t very strong and the cafe is very noisy. Although the cafe looks nice, the service wasn’t great. I came here because after seeing some good reviews to get some work done, but I’m quite disappointed.

We first went to look for seating upstairs (it was just before 4pm) not knowing that the lounge closed an hour before the cafe closed. The girl working upstairs was incredibly rude. She stared blankly at us for minutes before asking “What are you doing here?” There were ~4 other people sitting upstairs and there were no signs indicating that the area was closed. Eventually she told us that the upstairs was closed and we went downstairs. However, none of the 4 people upstairs were asked to leave.
