Koto is our favourite takeaway option on Deliveroo but for once we finally had an occasion to go into town and eat at Koto. As expected the food was great!
The Food: The food is amazing, its freshly cooked and the flavours are fragrant and delicious! Our favourites to have as a starter are the "Gyoza" and the "Wok Fried Greens" and our favourites to have as a main are the "Boom!", the "Eight Hour Brisket", the "Teryiaki" stir fry and the "Katsu" curry! I personally recommend trying the "Boom"! They also have seafood dishes as well has duck dishes if that is something more along the lines of what you are looking for.
Staff: The staff are friendly and very attentive! And even when the restaurant is very busy the staff will still cater to every customer and deliver excellent service!
Layout: Koto is a small restaurant however, it can hold a large number of diners! They have a number of outdoor seating at the front on the trendy Carey's Lane with more seating available inside to the left hand side of the restaurant on the ground floor. There is more seating upstairs and it surrounds a balcony overlooking the stairs.
Location: Koto is located about a third of the way down Carey's Lane from Paul Street. Very centrally located in Cork City!
Delivery: Koto offer take out through Deliveroo and its usually the way we normally order but it was nice to go in person!
Overall Opinion: The food is always amazing and they have delicious cocktails however, the restaurant can be quite busy so I would advise making a...
Read moreHonestly this noodle soup could change lives. It all started with a trip from Dublin down to the jazz after a funeral. I dropped off a friend at the Cashel service station and just figured that McDonald’s wasn’t going to cut it. It feels like there’s something vaguely sinister about eating a McDonald’s after a funeral. Anyway, I was heading down the M8 after getting stuck in a fair bit of traffic and figured the one think I needed was beef noodle soup. After struggling to find parking at my friends house off college road we eventually found some and ended up having to lug a fairly heavy bag up the street in the rain. Now came the hard part, choosing where to get this soup. After a bit of bavk and forth I decided that the photos of the food at Koto were defientely the best looking. Thankfully they had exactly what I needed! We quickly ordered then and just waited for our delivery in anticipation as I hadn’t really eaten that day I was shtarving. When it arrived we tucked in and my god. I was blown away. The stars aligned and I’ve now been introduced to my new favourite comfort meal. The beef noodle soup. If I could give infinite stars I would. It also gives me another reason to come down to cork as this long distance love affair is gonna have...
Read moreIncredible food. I have been to this restaurant many times and what I came to write this review about in particular is the staff's attention to food allergies. I have a severe food allergy and it is one of the very few places where I trust the staff in this regard. I have been able to try Asian cuisine that I usually cannot eat anywhere else because other establishments do not take allergies as seriously as they need to. I should note that my allergy is severe but not life-threatening so if you have a fatal allergy, please do additional checks.
I find staff in Koto are very attentive not just with allergies but with all elements of service. The atmosphere is very nice, it's very nicely decorated (quite dark though, so bear in mind if you have low vision or other accessibility needs in that regard) and clean interior. The flavours in the food are just exquisite as well. The food is of a consistently high quality - my favourite dishes are the pad thai and hoisin duck.
My only note is that the bathrooms are up some stairs - I am unsure if they have an...
