I passed by this restaurant today and, honestly, I was intrigued because I had been wanting to try a smash burger for some time. When I arrived, the lack of hygiene was what caught my attention the most, followed by the smoke inside (this place needs a good extractor fan) and, of course, a customer vaping inside the restaurant. We ordered and went to sit down. The counter was so sticky that it stuck to our hands. Disgusting. I needed to go to the toilet and it felt like I was in a nightclub at 2 a.m. Horrible. When the food arrived on a tray, I lifted the paper separating the food from the tray and noticed that the tray had not been washed. My boyfriend's was just as dirty. Instead of washing the trays, they just put a sheet of paper on top, but don't be fooled. The burger was burnt, but I did like the bread, cheese and chips. We left as soon as we finished eating. We won't be back and won't recommend this place to anyone else. They need to close this place, hire professional cleaners and then reopen with daily cleaning. The worst place I've ever had dinner in my...
Read moreEasily the best deli in Cork City! Great quality food with great attention to detail! The sandwiches are amazing and full of flavour! My personal favourite sandwich is the pulled Wagyu beef sandwich however, the Mr. P is also really delicious! There is a wide range of sandwiches on offer and they offer a breakfast menu. They make the best iced coffee in Ireland in my personal opinion! The atmosphere and friendly staff will for sure keep you coming back! You can also purchase locally produced milk and O'Connell's Hot Chocolate powder to take home!
Also, I love that there are no plastics involved in the packaging for the sandwiches and twine is used to scure the wrapping and the iced coffee comes in a plant based compostable cup!
Update 12/Feb/23: Masseytown now offer a roast dinner burrito. Its has all the usual trimmings that a roast dinner would have and you choose the meat! It is then wrapped up in a yorkshire pudding! Highly recommend! Also, the packaging has changed slightly, now they use a sticker to seal your wrapped up sandwich or burrito. Still...
Read moreI really wanted to love their roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding burrito but it fell a little short for me. The place was in a small cute location that forced us to navigate a bunch of little side streets we wouldn’t have known were there. I think I would have liked it better if the meat had been shredded versus sliced. In my head if the meat had been shredded and kept warm in gravy or an au jus sauce it would have been a bit more moist. It was pretty dry and required a lot of chewing. It is totally a good concept that just needs to be rethinked a little. It was understaffed on our random Sunday visit but the staff was pleasant and apologized for the delay. On a side note there is no customer bathroom. They said the closest bathroom was at a Tesco and had a 20p price and they offered to give us the 20p. Again the concept of wrapping an entire roast dinner in a Yorkshire pudding burrito is fun enough to...
