I recently dined at Reiwa, and it was a fantastic experience! From the moment I walked in, the cozy and contemporary ambiance made me feel right at home. The decor strikes a perfect balance between modern and traditional, which is fitting for a restaurant that celebrates Japanese cuisine.
Food: The menu offers a great selection of sushi, ramen, and other Japanese dishes. I tried their salmon sashimi, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The tonkotsu ramen had a rich, flavorful broth with tender pork slices, making it the perfect comfort dish. Every dish was well-prepared, showcasing authentic Japanese flavors with a slight creative twist.
Service: The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They took the time to explain the menu and gave excellent recommendations based on what I was craving. The food arrived promptly, which was great considering how busy the restaurant was.
Price: For the quality of the food and the overall experience, I found the prices to be reasonable. You’re paying for fresh ingredients and well-executed dishes, so it’s definitely worth it.
Atmosphere: Whether you’re going for a casual lunch or a more intimate dinner, Reiwa offers a relaxing dining environment. The soft lighting and tasteful decor make it a great place to unwind with friends or have a date night.
Overall, I highly recommend Reiwa for anyone looking to enjoy quality Japanese cuisine in Cork. It’s a hidden gem that will leave you satisfied and eager to...
Read moreThe yasai bento box was absolutely delicious. From the yasai tempura and its complimentary sauce, to the vegetable gyoza served on a bed of fried vegetables. The sweet tofu sushi was divine and the rice was plentiful and cooked to perfection.
On the other hand, while the gyoza, vegetables and sushi were delectable in the chicken teriyaki bento, one requires a sweet tooth to enjoy the chicken teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki was sweet and caramelised to an extent that felt more suited to that of a dessert than a main dish.
The tiger beer on draught was delicious and we particularly enjoyed the fact that the bento boxes were served with fried vegetables rather than a salad.
The staff were incredibly professional and hardworking. They were kind and served us with a smile. The manager was a delight to chat to.
We will be back to enjoy more of their dishes.
EDIT: Went a second time and the yasai bento was quite bland.
EDIT: Came a third time a year later and the yakiniku don was absolutely delicious, served with an ice cold beer! Reiwa has found its feet and established itself as one of the best Japanese restaurants in Cork! My friend got a salmon rice bowl which looked incredible, and she thoroughly...
Read moreThis is a very cute little restaurant in the centre of Cork serving a wide variety of interesting Japanese dishes.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, and whilst it was initially busy on our arrival they offered us the option to reserve a table as soon as one became free by leaving our number. Before we left, a table became vacant and they quickly cleared this for us.
The menu is comprehensive and generally well priced, with a variety of sushi and hot food options. The sushi looked good from seeing orders being delivered to other tables, however the price seemed perhaps a little high for us, particularly compared to the other items.
We tried the Shoyu Ramen and the Chashu Don rice bowl, both of which were rich and flavourful. The portion size of the ramen was perhaps a bit more generous than the rice bowl, particularly compared to the images on their menu.
