When recently flying home from the States I wanted to get a real taste of the local Cork inner city aura and what better place to go than Mok’s bar on the Bandon Road.. Upon entry we were greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly barman (pictured below), the locals knew him as “Patsy”. Even-though my wife and I were not local to Mok’s, we felt right in our comfort zone as we were seated next to a local gent named Cian from Mitchelstown, what a testiment to the Cork banter! He recommended we try a Guinness and boy it did not disappoint!!! My excitement got the better of me and I had the pint finished before you could say “Up the Barrs”, before I knew it Patsy had another Guinness in front of me, this time he insisted I split the “G” on the glass as goes Irish tradition, I took my time but gosh it tasted just as good.. Kudos to Patsy and co, I will definitely be returning to Mok’s bar in the near...
Read moreI visited moks pub on Halloween night and was shocked by the manner of the bartender. He refused to serve us based on the fact that we were not locals. The pub wasn't overly busy at the time and I believe that this was unnecessary and unacceptable behaviour as we already ordered drinks previous to this incident and got served no problem and it was hours before closing time. It just seamed like the bartender was just in a bad mood and took it out on us. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable in the hospitality trade and I also noticed a lack of compliance to covid...
