I went to this place earlier today, at lunchtime, to ask if they had a table free, expecting they would since it didn't seem as busy as the places nearby. Asked for a table for one, and was told without even checking that they had nothing that they were fully booked. No problem. As I had been speaking to the lad, three guys arrived behind me and were waiting to ask for a table. I was going to say on my way out to them that the place was fully booked, you're out of luck too, but I didn't. I went past and stood outside, to decide where I was going to try next. So the first of the three went forward and said "a table for three please" and the host said something short (presumably "yep sure") and I turned around and saw the three entering and being led to a table.
Obviously the host lied to my face about being booked. I guess because I'm solo. I think this is disgraceful behaviour. I completely understand minimum spends at busy hours, but put a sign up or at least say that instead of lying, and wasting people's time. As it happens I was on a bit of a staycation and was going to get lunch and a dessert along with my drink, so likely would have spent what two people would have spent anyway. Not that he bothered to...
Read moreUp until my most recent visit this was my favourite place to do brunch but the level of unnecessary greed displayed has turned me off ever returning. Without warning they have steeply increased their prices despite the quality of the food taking a downturn. My (clearly store-bought) waffles appeared to be slightly stale, my friend's salad was mostly lettuce & I was charged an extra euro for my choice of cocktail because it apparently had more alcohol in it than the others. Nowhere on the menu or in the restaurant was this stated.
They were very busy & various members of staff kept arriving to our table with the wrong order. If the place is that overpopulated with customers Dwyer's clearly don't NEED to raise their prices to such an extent, they are choosing to do so. After realising that I don't intend on continuing to reward them for that level of greed I would suggest going to one of the many other establishments that provide Brunch instead of being needlessly out of pocket for...
Read moreSubstandard, poor brunch offerings. Looking at the menu - everything sounds like it will be top-notch. Unfortunately this is not the case. The vegetarian option is tasteless and uninspired, the side of "Cajun" potatoes was nothing more than some cheap frozen cubes - the poached eggs were cooked pretty much perfectly though. The Motherclucker also promises a lot from its description but it looked like a Centra wrap - worse still, it's served with a side of stale catering crisps thrown into a little silver pail. The cocktails are pretty solid but, while we had planned on staying for a second drink, Dwyer's wasn't the kind of place that I felt like spending more time in last Saturday afternoon. I don't need a side of stag party with my brunch. Nor do I need to see a member of staff vociferously remonstrating with another on the floor - right next to my table. Just made the atmosphere darken immediately. Dwyer's flatters to deceive - their website promises a lot but they...
