Rose Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Cork

Went for a meal here tonight with my partner , we were the only ones sitting down to eat in there , prices are expensive enough everything was seperately priced on the menu wasnt made aware of if they offered a set menu per person for some much or not , we got the combi tray platter to start with for two people to share was too much food on it for 2 people if we had known we would have just got it for 1 person and shared it for main course i ordered crispy shredded chicken in sweet sour and chilli sauce with boiled rice , the rice was the nicest part of it the chicken part came served in a white cereal bowl where the veg and sauce was in the bottom of the boel and the chicken completely dry was sitting on top so you could tell the chicken hadnt been cooked in the sauce and there was very little sauce in the bowl it was more like a portion of salt & chilli chicken had been put on top of the sauce in the bowl was given no plate or bowl of prawn crackers like you would usually get in a chinese , my partner got the chi chi chicken it was meant to be a mix of chicken and pork he said the pork was more like pieces of spam we didnt like or enjoy it at all i know all chinese restaurants can differ with food but this one was...

I'm confused about the negative reviews for Rose Garden. I've eaten here twice now and it's been fantastic each time. Delivery was prompt, the food very good with big portions and the price reasonable. My reason for being confused, the food is very good and not your basic Chinese food. I am not doubting peoples experiences or trying to negate their reviews of their personal experiences, I am merely saying it's totally against my own experiences which were better than most Chinese meals I've eaten in Cork.

I particularly liked the Cantonese duck and the crispy fried lamb with pancakes and my guest had the sweet and sour crispy prawns which she said were "really good". A big compliment from this person. The lamb pancakes were a take on the crispy duck we all know. It worked so well and is definately sonething...

Ordered at 7.20pm, rang at 8.43pm and told order was on the way. Rang again at 9.12pm and explained to the person on the phone that we had rang 30 minutes previously and had been told that it had left and was on the way - to which we were not believed and asked who we were speaking with (which was difficult to distinguish as both women on the phone were Asian). We found out it had not yet left and was not on the way as we had been advised on our initial call but it is “really on the way now” while laughing. No refund was offered, we had to ask as was now ongoing nearly 2 hrs to which we were told no refund due. As of 9.25pm food came, chicken satay skewers cold and Chinese chips were soggy from sitting in the container while waiting who knows how long. Only giving 1 star as unable to...
