I used to love the flying enterprise. When i was in my teens and would be home in cork the bar and its staff were very accomadating and finbarr the owner was fairly nice but as years have gone on i would avoid this place brought my kids there last time. They gave us all our breakfast and left one of my kids waitng for his toast till we were all finished. My grandfather used to celebrate his birthdays in there resturant and always told us they were good people. Last time i went there was the last straw. I told finbarrs son straight out as he offered a refund for the toast and then he felt guilty when i told him my child was autistic and this ruined his morning. They seem to train the staff to be stuck up and look down there noses at people. I paid in full for our meals and the toast and told his son i will never step inside there resturant again. Money hungry voulters who dont even respect there own heritige or culture. Id like to see him try fire the people he has in his shop now for speaking there native language yet the shrewed owners know they couldnt as it would be racist. Which is what they are for doing it to there own. Never again will i be in the resturant and i hate when i even have to use your store. Yet when people were attack them outside there store i defended them and put a stop to it. Regret that now. All the money but never thought manners and respect the only thing they respect is whats in...
Read moreNot impressed with how you treat your staff who speak in Irish .
If your looking for somewhere to eat or drink - pick another place , the policy of this establishment is very poor .
"Staff not allowed to speak in their native language. Not impressed with anti Irish bigotry. And possibly the greatest Corkman himself condemns this attitude...
"They destroyed our language, all but destroyed it, and in giving us their own they cursed us so that we have become its slaves. Its words seem with us almost an end in themselves, and not as they should be, the medium for expressing our thoughts.
"We have now won the first victory. We have secured the departure of the enemy who imposed upon us that by which we were debased, and by means of which he kept us in subjection. .... ... We can only keep out the enemy, and all other enemies, by completing that task....
"...the biggest task will be the restoration of the language. How can we express our most subtle thoughts and finest feelings in a foreign tongue? Irish will scarcely be our language in this generation, not even perhaps in the next. But until we have it again on our tongues and in our minds we are not free...." Michael...
Read moreI went for lunch in the Flying Enterprise recently and was not impressed by the food at all. I had wanted to have a lasagna for lunch and decided to try the Flying Enterprise as I'd never eaten there before. Firstly the waiter did not know if they served lasagna at all, which was probably a bad sign to begin with. Then my order was wrong, as I asked for an extra portion of chips, rather than substituting my salad with the portion of chips. The quality of the lasagna itself was a lot less than average, and for the price it was definitely not good value for money. While the description in the menu was something along the lines of "traditional Italian homemade lasagna" I would say any Italian person would have felt ashamed to be associated with that recipe. There was no richness of flavor whatsoever and a there was a definite lack of tomato sauce in the lasagna itself. I was very disappointed with the food i received. I can safely say I will not be returning...
