The Old Town Taqueria @ Black Dog — Restaurant in Cork

Had a really disappointing experience here last night, booked a table at 8pm for myself, my partner and our two friends. We ordered food at 8:30pm and didn’t receive it until almost 10:30pm. I believe it was down to one person working that night in particular. A short girl with black hair and a grey shirt on, we ordered with her and were told she didn’t pass on our order to the chefs, who were very apologetic. We got no apology from her instead from other colleagues, the other staff tried very hard to accommodate us and were very apologetic. After I spoke to that girl on two occasions she finally checked on our order and didn’t offer any help afterwards. Chefs said the food would take another 15 minutes but still passed out other people’s food before making ours. The food was very nice but I honestly didn’t even want to finish it at that stage, we were all trying to be as considerate as possible but at that stage it was getting pretty ridiculous. First we were given a full price bill and I went back up to the bar and that same girl seemed like she couldn’t care less about us, so I spoke with someone else. Finally my partner tried to get her attention again to pay but was ignored. I had to actually raise my voice at her to get her attention which I absolutely did not want to do. We paid and left afterwards. We appreciated the discount and apologies from staff but the whole experience was just so poor. It really only takes one person to bring down the vibe of a place. I think more time should be allocated to train staff on how to work efficiently with chefs and process orders accordingly. I’d hate for anyone to have to experience this as the food really is fantastic. It was just a real shame. To wait 2 hours for service is not acceptable. I tried to find an email to respond to your answer, there’s no email online anywhere. Rang the restaurant to ask for email and staff wouldn’t give it to me, phone line was so bad they hung up on me....

Had high hopes for this place on arrival the whole place was freezing cold as the back doors were constantly open possibly lack of ventilation in the place. Ordered drinks and those were good the local beer and the margarita. Got the chicken tacos and the birria with a side of tortilla chips The chicken tacos were bland and completely dry considering it was big chunks of meat. the beef birria were good but not amazing there was large lumps of chewy beef too. Not a good experience and very expensive for what we got and 8 euros for a handful of tortilla chips and a couple of small dips is...

This is probably the best place to get tacos in cork. The style and presentation displayed on each plate is incredible and the tacos available provide an option for everyone from the meaty and rich birra tacos to the light and flavourful seabass tacos, this location is ideal for any kind of pallet. The staff are attentive and friendly, they seem to be finding their feet a little but we're still on the ball at all times. An excellent experience at great value,...
