The food was okay, so that's why we are giving more than one star. The service on the other hand had a lot to be desired. We ordered takeaway online at 4pm, with a pickup time of 8pm, however ended up being in town a little earlier than expected, (7.20pm) so called into the restaurant to see if it could be picked up any earlier. We were told that the earliest would be 7.50pm as the food was 'only starting to be cooked then' and that was fine. Came back at that time, and after being ignored at the counter while other people were served around me, I was almost given someone else's food because 'the numbers were almost the same.' The waitress then went into the kitchen and came out saying our order would be 'another couple of minutes.'
8 o'clock came and went and two other people picked up their orders, at which time I heard the wait staff whispering about our order (or lack thereof) and going into the kitchen to follow up again. I queried whether my request to pick up the order early had confused things (ie they mixed up the orders) and was told a bare faced lie about the number of orders at 8pm just making it busy in the kitchen (everyone else in the restaurant and for pick up got their meals on time, including those for pick up later than 8pm).
Our meal was finally ready to collect at 8.20pm, and had been clearly made only after the second time it was chased up. Mistakes happen, and at least our meal was hot, unlike the poor sods whose meal was waiting for me instead when I came in. Our annoyance stems from the clear lies about the situation. Another half an hour is not 'another couple of minutes', and an option to wait or go elsewhere would have been appreciated. An apology (no matter how small) for the extra wait time would also have not have gone astray.
It's obviously not the end of the world, (first world problems and all) but when you are on holidays and hungry at the end of a very long day, this type of experience can leave a pretty sour taste in your mouth, even if it's not...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning is how I would describe the meal the myself and 3 friends had here tonight.
We were started off with a lovely basket of poppadoms and a selection of delicious dips - Mint Yoghurt, Mango and a gorgeous chutney.
The main cources was absolutely fantastic. The lamb Balti that I had was without a shadow of doubt the best I've ever had, and that's saying something. The lamb itself was so tender that you could cut it with the fork!
Myself and the other chef that was with me immediately got excited when we saw our naan breads arrive to the table - they were absolutely sublime.
The service was beyond professional. We where greeted and seated by a who I presume is the manager. He kept his distance but watched our table closely the whole time - rectifying cutlery and refiling our glasses throughout the meal whilst not being intrusive in anyway.
In short I will absolutely recommend the Olde Bridge to friends and will...
Read moreThe Olde Bridge Indian Restaurant has certainly changed,we went here for evening meal on Monday 15-Jan 24.Last year we ate in this restaurant twice in the same week it was so good and great value. But now the prices have sky rocked and the chicken portions have got very small and no value at all.We gave this restaurant 5 stars last year but it has gone down hill so fast.We think this Indian must have changed hands. We could not wait to come back to the Olde Bridge Indian but we are so disappointed. You would be forgiven for thinking you were in a different restaurant no friendly staff no atmosphere no niceness like it use to be.We could not recommend it to friends like we...
