Easy to get to location close to a small yet busy area in Sandymount. A short bus ride from Ballsbridge and a walk got us here with ease. While sitting outside would have been nice with the weather, the tables are very small round tables that lean. Noticed some customers struggling to keep their little tables stable. Thankfully chose inside, which was also helpful during the 10 minute rain shower. Service was ok 6/10. While the staff was friendly and professional, it took a bit to get attention and the order was slightly off. The food was tasty. I had eggs, hashbrown, toast and bacon which even at a crispy request will not be crispy if you’re expecting bacon like you may be used to in the states. So be more specific if that’s what you’d like. Irish tea was great. Plenty of coffee options as well. The other meal was an eggs Benedict was was good. While the bacon once again seemed very underdone for “crispy”, the poached eggs were slightly over, hardly runny. Overall the location is clean and in a good location.

The food was ok but far from being one of the top brunch places in Dublin. They got a few things in our order wrong and the table wasn't super clean. We also had to request cutlery three times after our food had already arrived. It seemed to us the place was mostly busy because it is a neighborhood restaurant, but not worth it to travel across town to go there. We got the avocado with smoked salmon; the smashed avocado and eggs and the club sandwich. All the portions seemed quite sizable - specially the sandwich (and although from the pictures the others won't seem too big, we were all quite full after our meal).

Really loved this bistro. Our server was so friendly and helpful. I had a fussy young child with me and they don’t have a children’s menu but she suggested buying the sides instead - eg chips and sausages. He got an all day breakfast sausage sandwich. My other child got an all day breakfast wrap which went down a treat. I got an omelette which was super. My youngest was amazed at ketchup in a glass bottle - very retro lol!! The sweet treats looked lovely too. 3 cokes added to the above and the bill cost close to €50. Sandymount is such a lovely lovely location! Well worth a visit.

Waiting time to be served was terrible in a not too busy restaurant, we had to call a waiter eventually. Food waiting time was also too long for what we ordered. The fish and chips I ordered came out cold, I suspect from been left on a hot plate for too long to be served, hence our waiting time. I could tell as the side salad had the appearance of seeing better days. Once I brought it to the waiters attention he asked if he could change the chips, but would I like to keep the chips? Having waited a long time for the first time to be served I said ok as we were late to leave for an appointment.

To my surprise the chips came back with the fish piping hot, but we saw that they had just thrown them back in the deep fat fryer. You could bounce the chips which were the frozen variety off the wall and the "fresh" fish (also questionable) came out swimming literally in oil.

My wife also spotted the kitchen staff asking who left the food back and shaking their heads. To be honest they should be shaking their heads in shame for reheating frozen food for €22.50 and handing it back to a paying customer.

If this is what is becoming of the Irish way of selling/cooking food and serving customers then I can understand why people do not return to "restaurants" like this.

Management need to shake things up here or it will become another place that will lose customers, and as a result revenue and reputation. Hopefully not go down the road of not listening to customers and having to close their...

Disappointing service. Visited Brownes for brunch on storm Agnes day. Waited without acknowledgment for a considerable length of time, given how quiet it was, to be seated. The waiter seemed annoyed that we waited to be seated even though that’s what their sign at the till says. Didn’t say hello or welcome to Brownes. He offered us the table nearest the door which we declined as I had a 5 week old baby with me and being seated in a draft on a big storm day is far from ideal. The waiter seemed unnecessarily annoyed when we asked if we could sit at the back away from the door (there was 1 other customer only). The waiter huffed a bit as he had to move his own food plate from this table - we could not see there was food on the table when we asked if we could sit there. Surely there is a staff room where staff can eat their own meals and enjoy their break? We were not offered a seat further inside in the other room (much warmer too!) - and plenty of space!! The waitress was ok. Needed order repeated multiple times. Not a complicated order. Food was reasonable but can’t go too wrong with porridge. When we came to pay the original waiter again took time to acknowledge us at the till serving another group before us, who arrived after us in the queue. I found it quite irritating that he made sure however to point out where to tip on the electronic display! Maybe be as consciousness about the service first?! Poor service. Hope I visited...

Sunday, 7th May 2023 - Its a no no go place - Will not recommend to anyone that respects its own money.

The supposedly "cook" ( Owen) was extremely rude, unprofessional and unfit to be in a kitchen whatsoever. Cannot cook a simple burger.

Asked a simple basic well done beef burger for my 8 year old daughter and it came black burned to the table (on both sides). Respectfully, got up from my seat and addressed the supposedly "cook" Owen and mentioned that there is a difference between well cooked and burned. Any professional would know this without hesitation and would immediately kill the topic by cooking a new burger.

The supposedly "cook" Owen, mentioned that if he cooked the burger again he would not prevent from happening again - serious ? Turned his back on me and "off you go". This is exactly the type of people that make businesses go bankrupt.

How is it possible that a licensed commercial establishment employs such type of individual ?

Do this people actually understand that their salary is paid with Clients cash ? Will the Owners read this review and take action ? Judging by the previous reviews, I don't think so.

I personally, work in a cluster with 2500 staff - will not recommend anyone to come here.

Fair play to Eva (Ewa / Ava) that tried to solve the issue with other options but the damage was already done. Shame that one staff member compromises the effort of...
