Chilli Banana — Restaurant in Dublin

I have been to Chilli Banana many times and have always had a great time food, wine and service amazing. I went last Saturday and my sister was with me and really looking forward to eating here as I keep telling her she would love. When we arrived there was no staff on floor and then they were busy bringing food to tables only one member of staff acknowledged us and eventually we were checked off the bookings and brought to our seats and Lady I don't know her name did apologise for leaving us standing there. We were in a corner and nobody came to take our order and at this stage we were starving so I called a waiter and were sorted. The dishes we ordered were gorgeous and then we ordered a dessert a sticky toffee pudding which we shared but it's always amazing except ours was stuck to the plate and looked hard a little over half way down like as whatever way it was heated it was left too long. We didn't eat much as it was so hard and couldn't get the spoon in and we did say it to the waiter who did agree with us but that was it. One of our favourite places to eat in the Drumcondra area we come here often with friends and it is a very popular restaurant and always busy. We always feel comfortable and very welcome especially in our favourite seat near the front window.

Making a reservation is a doddle and I love the fact that a reservation can be made by emailing them if needed its so handy.

Restaurant is clean, warm and bright and the toilets although upstairs they are modern and clean. always a good indication as to how the place is kept. The staff presence always seems to be just right, there never hover around the table, allowing you to enjoy your meal but are just a wave away if needed.

Very full menu of authentic fresh Thai food with an early bird available during the week. I am a beef man and I have had most of the choices on the menu without complaints My go to dish is the Chilli Beef and Basil, very tasty dish indeed.

Varied wine list with standard enough pricing for a restaurant.

My only one small issue is the choice of beers but thats normal enough in a Thai restaurant

I was very disappointed with my visit to the Chili Banana. This was the first time that something like this has ever happened to me. I ate there on a Saturday evening. When I was booking the person told me that I could have a table for 2 hours. We were a group of 9 people. When I asked he said that he MIGHT be able to get me an extension of an extra half an hour so I was initially very happy with this. But I did say If you can't, you can't I don't mind. However, on the evening after 1 hour and 45 minutes we asked to order our dessert and were told that we COULDN'T because we didn't have enough time left. We were told that they had to prepare the table for the next customers, that we wouldn't have enough time left!!!! We had to apologize to our guests and leave to get dessert elsewhere.
