Myself and some friends attended Fagans yesterday before the Ed Sheeran Gig in Croke Park.

Unfortunately shortly after arriving I had a rather unfortunate incident with one of the barmen behind the bar. I went to purchase a drink using my friends card (as she had experienced a problem with it earlier on and wanted to see if it had been resolved).

As I went to pay the card didn't work, I didn't see it as big deal as I was more than happy to pay with my own. Firstly the bar man, John, proceeded to push the machine right up into my face several times, and shout over me when I tried to explain the issue. As I pulled my own card out, he then repeatedly told me to hurry up, I was wasting his time, he had proper customers to serve, and other insults thrown in. I paid no problem and returned to my table. Upon ordering another drink with a different barman, John came over and decided to bring the incident up again in front of other staff and customers telling me he wasn't rude, it was my fault again, not listening to a word I was saying.

I was having a really great time and this unfortunate event has really ruined my memory of the day I had planned for so long since the covid pandemic.

I should add under no circumstance was I in any way drunk when this incident occurred, it was my first drink to order. I will be hugely disappointed if is written off as another drunken incident in their establishment.

I'm not one for writing reviews, however, I can't let this incident go without something being said. No one should be spoken to in the way I was,...

I live pretty locally to Fagan's and can say that when it comes to food it is just excellent on options, portion sizes and - most importantly - taste! I'm particularly prompted to leave this review after a very positive experience last week. I had 3 London-Irish relations visiting, one of whom was the 92 year old granny in the family coming to Ireland to visit relations/ the homeplace after Covid had put the kibosh on travelling with ease in these last 2 years. Their flights were delayed which meant I'd to ring Fagans to try to reschedule the booking. They facilitated that no problem and even said if we were running late not to worry. There was a delay with 2 of the main courses (which we just asked about when we realised... up until then we were too busy chatting and really hadn't noticed!) which they were very apologetic about when we brought it to their attention. All the food was lovely when it did arrive out. The 92 year old just loved looking at all the old time memorabilia on the wall. The icing on the cake was when a staff member brought out 2 desserts to share between our group on the house as an apology for the delay in the food. We genuinely hadn't been bothered at all by it, but it was a lovely touch and definitely just exuded that Irish hospitality that people talk about it. It made the 92 year old's evening as she has quite a sweet tooth 😂 Anyway, just to say thanks a mil - your staff are a credit to you and keep up...

Nice and spacey pub with an incredibly stylish and nice completely wooden interior. Prices are what you would expect in a pub just outside the city center: 5.50 for a pint of lager, a bit less for a Guinness. Although the vicinity of two universities, the place thank God is not flooded with students and the crowd consists mostly of locals and a more mature patronage. Up until recently the pub did not have any background music, which I really liked as normally the music is so loud you can't even hear your own words. Recently however, they started playing some background music, but it's at a pleasant level and you can still have a very decent conversation. The students working as waitresses here are very friendly and welcoming and the service is prompt and accurate. If you're looking for a stylish pleasant pub with that Irish feel without going too much cliché Irish (shamrocks everywhere, folk music blurting out of the speakers etc) that is never really overcrowded except on St. Patrick's day and pay a reasonable price for your drink, you're at the right place here. This pub also prides itself the nickname "the president's pub" because several US presidents have come here to...

January 2022 A nice pub which is located on Drumcondra main street. I ordered the beef burgers with all the trimmings which cost €15. The portion was generous and the mash was nice and creamy. I found there to be a good food selection on the carvery menu. This place is old fashioned inside but it does have a nice comfortable feel to it. There was no free glasses of water with the carvery which was dissapointing. Overall a positive experience with friendly staff and high quality cuisine. September 2022 update. I have gone here on two separate occasions recently and the carvery dinner has not been hot enough. I mentioned it to a staff member and she said she would pass message on to the chef. The standard of carvery has declined in my opinion and it certainly needs to be hotter. A shame really as I used to like going here and the standard was better before.

A little bit different food service in this bar. On this particular day; (Sunday) they have what's called the "Carvery," which is essentially a chef standing at a buffet line that's behind glass, carving roast chicken, beef or ham and serving you the sides. You get a large plate for about $16.50 or a small plate for $11.50 and you pay at the end of the line, then take your plate to your table. This service runs until 7pm, and I'm not sure, but I assume regular menu service continues after? I'm not 100% but check with the bar what happens next regarding food service after the carvery is done. It was our first time here, and the food was really good, and staff was very friendly. We bought a couple T-shirts with the Fagan's name (Est. 1907) on it, they were only $15 € and well worth it to say: "Been there, done that, & got the T-shirt!"

We went in last Friday what a disappointment, we got the sharing platter which was nice. We all had cheese burgers, mushrooms on the side and a curry sauce. The burger’s were full of black pepper and and tasted like they were boiled and then deep fried! We could not understand how they could make such a mess of a simple burger. They were so tough they could of been used as hockey pucks! The chips were hard in the middle, the curry sauce tasted like uncooked flour. We did tell the staff but nothing was done about our situation. Overall a waste of money AVOID.
